Thread regarding Belk layoffs

belk calling my daughter on day off over, and over again

my daughter works at belk as a part time flex. and i found this forum accidently browising the web looking at belk employee reviews.
last week, my daughters phone started ringing at 8:07am with a caller ID from the local belk store. she didnt answer. every 30 minutes until noon or so belk called her phone. this is almost to the point of harassment. if someone does not pick up the phone, they don't want to or can't talk. the next day the same thing happened, but they only called three times instead of 10 times. has anyone else experienced this?

"Just so all of you know....Belk will not call you back if you pick up that call and tell them you can't work. You need to understand that our schedules are being manipulated to the point that I have not had any hours scheduled in over 4 months. If they call me to work it's usually to come in at a moments notice. If you tell them no they tell you then they won't call you anymore. If you don't know the entire situation, keep your mouth shut!"

if you have not been scheduled in over 4 months it's not because they don't have any hours, it because you not producing, and you probably have a bad attitude. Either way, you should get the hint and find another job, Belk does not want you. Who stay's with a job that does not schedule them in 4 months anyway? are you a special needs person?

Associates know why they do this. Managers don’t want to step in and help run a register. They are scared to be held to the standards regular associates are. They don’t want their email percentage to fall, not be able to get credit and god forbid get a detractor that drops their charm score!! Managers are supposed to step in and help in there situations not run the other direction. It’s in their best interest to find more appropriate ways of dealing with these situations instead of harassment.

The young lady shouldn’t have to answer her phone on a day off and tell them anything. If they call once and she does not answer, they need to move on. Calling every 30 minutes is egregious.

"She should of had the curiosity to pick up the phone and let them know she didn't want to work. Someone called out and needed someone immediately. Chance are she will be the last one they call if they need someone again.
Also, you don't need to be the one looking this information up. She should".

um, I can look up anything I damn well want to. Who are you to tell someone what they can and can't look up? WTF

She should let them know she doesn't want work when she is not scheduled.

Most likely store had a call out and they were trying to find anyone willing to work that shift. I understand your daughter didn’t want to pick up, but it would be easier if she answered and told them she can’t work that day; they wouldn’t call again.
