Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Wondering...

I wasn't nervous about this until reading a different post on here but I recently hit a work anniversary with my current department but never received any recognition for it. In contrast-another teammate of mine who started the week after me just received recognition from our leadership for her one year anniversary. I read somewhere in a post on here that those who aren't recognized for anniversaries may be targeted for a layoff. I have a positive working relationship with my direct management and the manager over them and I'm not an underperformer. Have never been put on a PIP or even received coaching. In my prior department I experienced bullying behaviors from my people leader-who was of course promoted to manager-and that person still has the ability to bully me covertly across departments or smear my reputation if she so chooses. I try to avoid direct contact with her and just do my job to the best of my ability. I just want to know if it doesn't bode well that my work anniversary wasn't recognized or if this has happened to others but they weren't laid off but were likely overlooked. Does HR automatically notify leadership about work anniversaries when they roll around or is it up to each individual leader to remember and keep track of them? I financially cannot afford to be laid off right now so this has me nervous.

I also walked away because I could, and without notice. I Never plan on working at Centene again. I agree that this company was the absolute worst place I have ever worked. I worked at a Blue plan for many years, talk about night and day.

10 years and got a choice of a $15 Centene promotional item or a donation to charity. What SL giving up her 5 million pay increase and at least give it back to the people in Medicaid who need it. Nah just kidding keep flying your family on company jets to the islands. Show your boys the real life of the rich and scandalous. My days are numbered and can’t wait. I feel sick thinking of the waste at the top and the company employees who are Medicaid eligible. MCO days are numbered.

My current manager only says anything when it’s regarding his favorites. If you are not one of the ones he is always protecting, then you won’t get any recognition.

Not to speak ill of your current supervisor because I don't know them, but if you came from another department, your anniversary did not start with them so they may not care. Or rather, it's not at the forefront of importance as it's not a key date with them as it is for someone they specifically chose to hire. And HR definitely informs them but again, do they care and/or are they organized enough to keep up with it?

Frankly I'd rather they not even remember. It's not that deep if no one remembers how long I've been there. Worse to be reminded how long I've chosen to stay and how much longer I've been stuck there after WANTING to leave. As to layoffs, plenty of good people have been let go regardless of acknowledgement or lack of so not a tell tell sign.

I would definitely at least be actively looking for another job if financially you can't afford to be laid off. Ultimately you may NEVER be in line to be let go but that's the gamble of ANY job but at least here we know they WILL be happening. Just a matter of when and then who.

Yes Workday does list your work anniversary and your people leader can elect to send you an e-card with kudos from them and the team if they choose to do so...BUT it is HR that sends an anniversary acknowledgement card from corporate, very similar to the mailers used during employee appreciation week. I received a KCA, great relationship with my people leader and still ended up on the chopping block. My anniversary was during the time the RIF leak was announced and the list of names had already been finalized. My package date reflected I was terminated the week of my anniversary, but I was notified in October. I would hate anyone to go through what I experienced and be caught by surprise.

My manager always forgets and then says something a couple weeks after when she remembers…its not personal, they just don’t give a sh-t…

I had the same experience at Centene. I was in a position where I could walk so I did. I feel sorry for people who don't have that opportunity. Centene was the worst company I ever worked for but it was all about leadership for me. I worked for someone who was promoted to a manager who was very good at her job but was not a leader, she was a drill sergeant with a huge ego.

It's in workday and up to each people leader to notice. Very easy to overlook if you have a large team or are not that organized

A coworker's 5 year went unrecognized because their manager did not like them. There were no PIPs or write ups. The coworker emailed their manager 3x about it and it still never got done. The manager clearly was targeting that person due to their personal feelings because others on the team got their recognition that month. This coworker then tried to Ask HR about it, and they said it has to come from the manager. They cannot initiate. They also refused to assist with the manager's blatant disregard in treating everyone equally. The coworker moved on to a competitor a few months later. Both the coworker and their manager have Masters Degrees, so the petty extends to all levels.
