Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

HCSC getting ready for Cigna in TX?

I came across this article and it talks about HCSC leasing a building in Houston. What does everyone think?

Hcsc office in Richardson is the main TX office. I don’t think the current Houston office has space for all the MA employees that may move over.

Then again that south Houston office may turn into one of the sister site offices that are currently in Chicago. More member facing roles vs back end office staff

HCSC already has a business presence in TX, with offices already located there.

There will still be WAH opportunities for some employees. HCSC is really big on field visits for CM, for example, and so the CMs will keep their jobs because they need people in those areas to do the work, but there isn’t enough staff located in those areas to support a real office.

I would be concerned if I was claims, customer service, or any position who won’t be expected to be face-to-face with providers or customers, though.

Why would you have to move to TX?

“I think if you are in the MA space and don’t want to move to TX or get laid off because you aren’t near Houston”

Good luck getting out. I am finding a lot of recruiters can't help me because they have a contract with Cigna to not "pull" from them. They have stacked the deck against us for sure. Despicable company.

I think if you are in the MA space and don’t want to move to TX or get laid off because you aren’t near Houston, then get out ASAP. Actually based on what is going on company wide my advice for everyone is to get out ASAP. Job market is rough right now and I spend a lot of time on it but I am getting more interviews and am close. It’s toxic here and going to get worse before it gets better

The article says "The new Houston location is at 8101 W. Sam Houston Parkway South. Buildout is expected to be completed as soon as January 2025."

What a coincidence that the building will be ready at the same anticipated close date of the Cigna Medicare / HCSC divesture.
