What are the odds of them offering more early separation packages like last year?

WS got your package swinging
only package they got for us is swinging between their legs!
Severance wasn’t offered to us in the last separation package. 60k and only extended to network techs. Also took place in November which meant tax time was going to really su-k with the additional income at the end of the year. CSTs were offered much less and if enough didn’t take the offer they were going to layoff a few until the magic number was met. Now they’re hiring CSTs to replace the techs that were let go at the end of ‘23. It’s a sh-t show and after being an employee 25+ years it’s fu--ing sad.
The only packages people are going to get is the shaft.
Unity stock is headed to the pink sheets so expect a lot of packages being given out by years end.
That’s funny coming from the gal that sits behind her partition playing candy crush all day only getting up to walk around carrying a box trying to look busy. It doesn’t matter, all the grass cutters & candy crush players will soon be at peace when Unity comes in and wipes this place clean of all its toxins.

That’s funny coming from management that has no idea that “seasoned” employees were/are the ones trying to motivate these children to come to work every day and find something to do to be productive. Instead you consider that a toxin!! You have no idea that a lot of the new meat does not want to leave their homes in the morning and if there is nothing in their FSL now, they just stay home and cut the grass or go fishing. Then they charge your d-mb as--s overtime when they do get a job that goes past 4pm!! Been getting away with that even before FSL. I think that even makes management at certain levels even lazier.
A take home copy of the working with integrity CBT.
Both sides of that argument are true. It’s definitely hard to replace the older techs because of the knowledge they have in an industry that’s dying fast for landlines. But the older dudes absolutely are miserable and maybe toxins isn’t the best word but they are salty because of change and how efficient things used to be. Pair fixing is a thing of the past . Windstream doesn’t allow to time to correct the problem the right way so everybody just throws pairs today. That’s the standard because of all the spares most areas have now especially with fiber if available.
Are you seriously calling seasoned employees that actually know what they’re doing “toxins”? As a tech in an area with about half the techs with 15+ years and the other half less than 5-6, I can’t imagine what this place would look like without the older guys here. Sure wouldn’t be any cable issues fixed. They’d just keep throwing pairs until they run out because they sure aren’t interested in actually fixing anything.
It’s a loaded question. Are you union or not ? How many years do you have ? Hourly or management? They will definitely offer another buyout in hopes of getting rid of the employees with lots of guaranteed vacation time and higher wages. These type of employees typically have lots their desire to be here anyway and are more likely to be the less productive employees anyway. They are bitter on the new ways of the industry and cause more issues anyway. It definitely benefits the company to get these toxins off the roster!
I was let go in March, and there really isn’t a severance package! WS offsets what you make for unemployment; which in my state I have not received the first unemployment payment!
(In my state) let’s say may regular pay from we was 1000, and unemployment gives you 300; then WS makes up the difference! In this example, WS would pay 700! The max of time is 2 weeks per year max of 12
"Used to be 12 weeks maximum severance paid" - that is incorrect. It used to be 2 weeks of severance for every year of service up to 26 weeks of pay maximum (13 years of service). Then John Fletcher changed this to 12 weeks maximum and when people asked why was this change hidden buried within the HR sub intranet boards......well long term employees know the rest and why.
To help those likely to get laid off - have any and all equipment sent to your house for staging on projects - when you do get that 10 minute TEAMS call telling you bye - at least you get a parting gift - its not like management has a clue. I know one manager that has close to 500K of equipment sitting in his garage
At the current time, it works like this ... once you hit the last day you go to the unemployment office. Let say you got pay 2k but unemployment only pay like 1,200 a part of Windstream reaching out to said unemployment office and give the amount they pay and than pay the different. This is done depending on how long you been with Windstream... This is the reason they want to get you another job asap so you don't get all the severance... once you get a job you only get 30% of the remaining.. Please note this is how it was in the last couple of months... don't know if it will stay that way.
Last year’s package was $35k if I remember correctly…that’s not exactly what I would consider “nothing”…
How can you receive unemployment benefits and compensation from the new unemployment supplement benefit at the same time? Doesn't compensation from an employer disqualify or lower your unemployment benefits? Does the supplemental unemployment benefit address the requirements for WARN?
The modem rental fee will be waved for the first year.
Packages?
Packages?
We don't need no stinking packages.
I heard no severance gets offered anymore. Hope that us not true. Used to be 12 weeks maximum severance paid, plus unused Vacation time
With a merger in the works, I doubt any generosity will be extended to us. Gotta keep the books shiny above all else.
The packages and offerings have dwindled to basically nothing. People will be fortunate if they even give you advanced notice of separation. I'm sure the only offerings will be what you get with unemployment.
