Execs cashing in, no pay raises below in the face of high inflation

Heavy D and Co cashing in millions. If they believed in the HAMR and the future why sell out? They did this by keeping the divi via cutting employee pay by 10% at many levels. Cut the pay, keep the divi, cash out. Inflation? - employees won't notice. Pay increases to make up for the 10% inflation the last 2 years? - good luck. hahaha. Sl--e ba--s running this place. Very Sad.

Why would anyone work super hard for this company? Explain the logic. Young should leave to better companies and 50+ should quiet quit an chill.

Yep. Shareholders provide no value except to stabilize stock price and help rich get richer. It’s not like we are raising capital with share issues. If Seagate was private all that divided money could flow to employees and capital investments. You know, the resources that actually produce something. That’s not Seagate priority. Act accordingly.

Work-Life balance at Seagate is you working your a$$ off and the shareholders are awarded your raise.

Selling off assets and cancelling programs. Dust still hasn't settled on Commerce Dept violations from last year. HAMR uptake slow. Shakeup coming.

I actually joined Seagate proactively from a dying manufacturing industry in my late 20's. That industry completely died and all plants in the state have closed and laid everyone off. If I had stayed there, I would have gone another 5-10 years with no raise, bonus, and low pay I'm sure. So, I'm actually speaking to the younger engineers at Seagate from a position of experience here when I say move out because you are stagnating and losing the prime potential right now if you stay at Seagate till the end. And I actually did it. But yes, I'm sure Seagate would like to keep you and pay you little with no raise. Of course! Duh! If you are 50+ and wise you have already saved 1 million by now. I did and it didn't take a huge sacrifice really if you live modestly. Absolutely I can understand staying and collecting a package as it's harder to get hired when you are older. So, does it make any sense now?

every generation makes this transition…20+ yrs ago many of us were newly hired engineers who joined an Industry fueled by PCs and the emergence of the Internet. Now, it’s a mature industry with ever more encroachment by flash. So, yes, hire the young talent, accept the turnover, and keep the costs low is liken to college hoops learning to deal with one and done players.

Young engineers are cheap, that’s the motivation to keep them and replace the old forks. A good pair is the young team members with experienced management to keep the opex low. For the old guys and if you are not in the management position, you may need to think a way out, or be sold to Broadcom.

Younger people, what are you still doing here? Go into AI and let the older gen take care of storage technology, it is not fancy nor glorious nor se-y, we just need to make a bit more money for retirement, please leave us alone, take your comfort blanket with you and enjoy your safe spaces where you can express all your feelings with others who share your views. Signed, The management.

If cashing in is enrichment in the face of employe sacrifices, this is a valid concern. We are not alone as WDC employees too expressed frustration with their executive comp.

One thing I understand no matter what happens and what they do..ppl still work here.

If you are frustrated that you are complaining about those things here..why not look elsewhere.

Yes, they stole employee money and enriched themselves. I've warned that anyone under 45 below Staff Eng. should have found a job somewhere else 3-4 years ago. You would have likely gotten a raise and bonus every year. Maybe a promotion by now. Instead you have gotten nothing and you stagnated with nothing in the face of inflation. You have wasted 1/2 a decade of your career. It's not to late to flee. There might be a small raise offered this year or next but the next major recession is already starting. I expect layoffs in 2025-26. For the rest of you 50+ I can see trying to surf out another few years before hanging up the pocket protector for good.

I’m grateful as I get my pay still, much better than those kicked out. But have to reduce number of times eating outside. You won’t disappoint if you don’t have high expectations.
