Thread regarding USAA layoffs

FAVORITISM

To the manager(s) under ECIO, who posted a job this past Friday and had it taken down by today.
I see you!
I know I can't prove it, but I know you had it posted for someone in particular, and once they applied, you had HR take it down.
USAA managers have been getting away with"favoritism" for as long as I can remember.
I hope you trust who you hire, because when you least expect it, they may turn on you and spill the beans.

I have never seen such favoritism, cronyism, and lack of empathy with a company. Dear god, give me my package! Get me outta here!

Within ECIO and Infosec this practice has existed forever. Most of our directors are career military and never worked in companies supporting the lines of service they lead. That is why we can't get anything done, they don't how to lead people that are not enlisted and know less about the capabilities of the software they are buying. Projects are behind schedule for years, over budget by millions of dollars and forget about reducing tech debt or control tests passing. He-l- look at the control action plans- they are damn joke!

Amala came here to clean up shop- but she added to the problem by laying off individual contributors and freezing promotions instead of replacing AVP's, ED's, Director's and Sr. Manager's that have no experience in what they are failing miserably to lead. It su-ks to work in Infosec, no promotions and my leaders technical knowledge is summed up by buzz words, conferences and vendor dinners.

Amala- Do you job! Get rid of our bosses and we will like you!

For most non member contact roles, especially those in a salaried/staff role, the hiring manager already has their person picked out, but they still go on with selecting candidates for interviews, this is USAA’s way of keeping EEOC away. Just recently we filled an opening on my team, I was part of the interview process, the morning of the interviews (which 4 were selected) the manager said to us “this person is my pick, just make sure they don’t F up the interview.”

Yup. It's how I got my position. USAA has always done this. It was going on before Amala and it's a common industry practice. They almost always have someone in mind

Was it the senior roles for detections for tcs? cause there are six new seniors on a new team and I did not even see any postings anywhere…

Makes you wonder, was there really a business need for six seniors ona single team??????

If they have leadership roles open, I feel like they usually already have someone in mind that’s why nothing changes. I feel like we have been running in place for the past 4 years.

Yeah it’s an open secret, literally how I got my position a few roles ago.

It’s been like that for years. HR can’t allow hiring managers to direct hire so hiring managers end up gaming the system.

I’ve hired people and was told all roles have to be up for 7 days externally.

They got busted posted a job for a position they recently eliminated (Lay Off). They still needed the positions, they just didn’t want to pay the salaries for the people in those roles. They planned to secretly replace them with cheaper (less skilled) labor. Now the a--hats are trying to hide what they did before the EEOC catches wind of it. So much for Honesty, Loyalty, and Respect. This place is a corrupt sh-t show.

USAA has done this for years. It’s how I got my first job with them. They even told me that’s what they were going to do

That is the technique used to make sure I got the promotion slot.
Told it was posted, I applied, it was taken down.
I had the interview, passed, offered the job.
That is the way it works to get the person the managers want for the position to get around all the HR BS rules for diversion, equity, inclusion.
Actually, that is the way it worked for many years prior.
