As the rumors fly here and elsewhere, while the specifics may be incorrect or “off”, it’s exceedingly clear that the basics are true and correct.
And the facts are undeniably true that our new owners has been fully detached and AWOL in terms of making any kind of connection with company employees. The obvious reason for this was to maintain a lack of emotion and connection with employees, because they knew from the get-go that they would be massively laying off employees.
Easier to lay people off as an emotionless and faceless entity than to present a human face to the people you are sc--wing over.
But the worst culprits in all of this are the leaders, all of whom fully failed us. Mark, Paula, Suresh mainly. They are responsible for all of the poor hires of B- and C- level execs, and the poor hires that these Bs and Cs made as a result.
Paula and Mark were responsible for strategy and major decisions, and the decisions they made showed that they never really ever understood Alteryx, our customers, and our products. Not to mention why people buy our software.
The completely misguided acquisition of failing Trifacta, where near zero due diligence was done. That’s on you Suresh.
The pivot to enterprise selling (like we are a router or security or enterprise software company or something) and inability to sell cloud. That’s on you Paula.
The whole McLaren and other sports sponsorships (and we dodged a bullet not sponsoring women’s soccer!), and Maveryx thing (WTF?!?) and bloated hiring of 50-60% more marketing people than was needed. That’s on you Pi---l Pearce.
There were just so many errors and poor decisions that compounded over 3+ years that just completely wrecked the company. And ALL of that occurred on your watch, and that’s fully on you, Mark.
And now, major layoffs of 25-35% are at hand. It has come to this. And Paula and Suresh shamelessly oversee, direct and execute the layoffs, and then will be bailing out this summer with their multi-million dollar golden parachutes, earned and claimed because they laid off more hundreds of people on top of the prior layoffs.
Meanwhile, the layoffs will be very deliberately executed in a way and with timing so that the laid-off employees do not get the vested equity that they have rightfully earned. Literally being laid off 3-5 days before they are due for a payout.
This is all so sad for the rank and file employees, who came aboard with high hopes and dreams.
Led by a cabal of executive “leaders” who didn’t know what they were doing and who were driven by greed and the perks of the job.
You, the executive team, have sc--wed all of us over. We will survive, we will recover, we will move on. But all of you “leaders” will have to live with the stain and reputation of having a failed company and having NOT done the right thing by your employees. Whether you have a conscience or not, you have this on you now, and someday you will pay for your failure and lack of accountability to the Alteryx employees.
Remember, you may be on the way to earning your millions now, but Karma is a 8!tch, and it will catch up to you eventually.
