Around 13 people in Training department for Commercial Lines let go a couple weeks ago. Has anyone heard of they were givin 60 day notice or of any severance packages. More cuts are coming I am sure.

How do they decide? Who knows. Probably based on year end performance reviews and QA. UW will likely be hit especially hard. They’re already moving tons of their responsibility to other places like processing and service center. Won’t be long now folks. So many in the small commercial teams are frustrated with this limbo stage.
What criteria are they using to decide who gets let go?
Which parts of commercial are facing it?
Yes, they were notified awhile ago. More layoffs will come for commercial. June is when they should have third party/co-sourcing decisions made for commercial then they’ll tell people in July
They have to give 60 day notice. It’s the law. They don’t need to give severance. That’s optional. So if they want to put conditions on it they can.
I’ve noticed more training personnel getting the boot in insurance, of late. But 13 in one dept?? That’s a lot!
Ethical? Does anyone care about ethical these days? We’re living in the modern feudal age. It will only get worse, peasants.
Many in training and outside of training got 60 day notices in Feb. They indeed got severance packages in line with the company policy, which includes a release stating they won't pursue legal action for discriminatory practices. Which was based on the demographics of impacts provided to those impacted. Appears middle aged white males with long tenure were the largest demographic affected. Failure to sign the release leads to Nationwide withholding severance. Not very ethical.
