Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

In the spirit of fairness…

How in the world do we make exxonmobil a company dedicated on fairness to every employee? We are smart people, we can figure this out. This is not confrontational, but let’s brainstorm on how we make this company fair to everyone, while we still succeed.

Fair to everyone, bwahhashhaaa. ExxonMobil is built on competition and who has biggest line of BS. Always has been been, always will be. You want fair, we'll fvxk your Mother and then argue whom she enjoyed most. That's Exxon way

Promote from within. If you can’t do your base job successfully then you have no business managing people. Reward team players and trust the folks that were great in their craft or discipline to go into management. The message comes from top down. You want snakes then praise and reward the snakes. You want dedication and hard working folks that buy in then treat those folks well. The company has way too many layers of management and most but not all are rotten to the core. Cleaning house there would be a great start.

That’s not what ceo wants though. His short sided rule by fear agenda is to cut as many as possible as quickly as possible. That’s what he values is bottom line. Probably picked on and bullied a lot when he was a kid

A Rotten culture attracts rotten people.

Your problem is that you don't like to admit you are also rotten. You are a mediocre professional working for a mediocre company in a mediocre industry.

Your problem is not fairness. Your problem is that you are hating yourself for being so mediocre and irrelevant.

You have and identity problem my friend. You are not gonna fix it by changing others. Change yourself.

Looser.

System is totally fair, worked for me. I have a private bathroom, decent toilet paper and 30 mil+/yr all good up here.

OP you just don't. This company's been damaged beyond repair. There's nothing left to do. In time it'll implode on its own weight. Darren's created another GE (which doesn't exist anymore) or another Boeing (and we all know where that company is going). There's no way of fixing this mess. Good luck to us all.

The system you claim is in place to identify and develop senior executives is advertised as a fair employee assessment program.

It is not a fair system, it is a rigged tool to move up HiPos along their steep planned trajectory. Written rules will be broken and intimidating phone calls made to protect the HyPos and false statements made to keep them at the top of the rank list above many people that outperformed them.

the point is not fairness to every employee. the point is to maximize shareholder return, and assess employees in a system designed to identify and develop senior executives. nothing more, nothing less.

We need a workshop in Houston. Fly in all the people from around the world (especially Curitiba) for a week with team building event (and after drinks) on the last day to foster family spirit.

I’m sure we will be able to deliver a 5 year plan and a nice dashboard to track our progress.
