Jumped over hear from the UHG/UHC/Optum pages just to see if there were other health competitors that treated their employees in a way that would make them satisfied with their work, engaged and striving for innovation because the company valued them and treated them right...I'm not finding success. It seems we're all in different burning trash cans. :( These companies are getting so big, the employees keeping the lights on just don't matter to them.

Well, we ended up with Gail after she left UCH, so no surprise that she's spent her tenure turning us into them.
I would honestly check with large hospitals because they have UM roles, denial management roles, etc. I thought the pay was lower too but I just interviewed for a role and my starting salary would be 20k more than I make now. I’m not sure if I’ll get a second interview or not but I sure hope so. It’s 100% work from home with excellent benefits. I’ve been working for large insurance companies for over 8 years. It’s really sad the way middle management is allowed to abuse staff mentally & verbally & nothing is done about it. I know for a fact HR & ethics has been contacted & nothing has been said or done.
I've worked for the other health insurance companies. It is the same, RIFs, layoffs and lies.
I think everyone is trying to leave this company. And it is getting noticed.
For the person who got interviews fast was it with a recruiter or apply directly?
How bad was it working at united? What role?
Its all the same, foreign work visa and outsourcing negate how indispensable everyone is.
I am doing the same thing. Networking and trying to get a position with either a private health insurer or large hospital system. I have been able to get a few interviews after only a few weeks of searching. Agree, the pay will be a little lower but getting away from this constant stress will be worth it. The benefits are comparable.
It’s all the publicly traded companies in this space that treat their employees like absolute garbage. They are willing to run through people and burn them out as fast as possible to keep that stock price up. There is no focus on quality and doing what’s right for members and providers. It’s so blatant now that everyone just rolls their eyes all the way through every big wig and quarterly town hall. If satisfaction, being happy and work life balance is what you seek then try applying for a private health insurer or large hospital system. I see more and more folks going this route every day and I’m in the process of doing this myself. Pay may not be as great but at this point anything is better than this miserable dump.
