Might be right about the Windstream network gear su-king. They might be enticed though by what Uniti brings to the table. They acquires a bit in their time.
Zayo hired a few windstream folks and they know the fibers are horrible plus they do not like the equipment used by windtream. Is the customer base worth the pain? Otherwise you got nothing
Digital Bridge ( owners of Zayo) have been positioning for pushing further into the FTTH space. So it's possible. However, I don't see it happening soon. It'll be late 2025 at best. Merger will complete first quarter 25.
However, keep an eye on the HR portal for zayo. Last time they were eyeing a buy, their postings sky rocketed. If they start looking for what looks like whole teams... a buy is seriously being considered
Could merge with Breezeline, Frontier, Consolidated, etc
================================================
I meant to say Brightspeed, not Breezeline.
Zayo would have no need or want for Kinetic business unit, but there are multiple options for Kinetic.
Could merge with Breezeline, Frontier, Consolidated, etc. Or something similar to T-Mobile and Lumos who recently announced that T-Mobile and a partner plan to acquire Lumos which is an ILEC/FTTT operator in NC, SC, VA. Lumos will move to a wholesale business plan with T-Mobile as the anchor tenant.
Zayo…zero chance
Consider this:
TT was shown the door after failed attempts at a merger. We know about Zayo, but the rumor mill had others.
Sunu comes in, and almost 6 months to the day here's the Uniti merger. Coincidence? Hardly.
I expect these folks are already shopping the reunited company to potential buyers.
From KG on the earnings call transcript: "Lastly, M&A has always been an important tool for Uniti to realize shareholder value and we fully expect to be active in the future. Given the more simplified structure going forward, we believe the options available for the combined company will be substantially greater than in the past in a number of respects, including possible divestitures of non-core assets and separation of the businesses."
Very strong likelyhood. There may also be another spin off of the ilec broadband. Think bright speed.
