I thought Cigna was a great career move, was promised many wonderful things, told I could have the flexibility to WFH and help take care of my aging parent, was told the people are great and for some reason believed what I was told only to be bullied and embarrassed by my coworkers who are supposed to be adults, find out the leadership is appalling in their treatment of employees (like an abusive marriage, they know that we need our paychecks and they hold that threat over us) and horribly mishandles how they manage change. Cordani really should just own it and just said “We don’t care if we lose people and we need to offload a bunch of you so we’ll make you as miserable as possible to see who we can beat into submission. If you don’t like it, there’s the door”. BTW, they want to remind us that our health and wellbeing is their utmost concern. Really??! On the rare nights I sleep since taking this job, I wake up crying, my teeth hurting from clenching my jaw, I cry on my way to work, because … well I work with some horrible people. If their priority is my health and wellbeing, I’d hate to see what they would do if it wasn’t. Comply …. whoops they meant “Submit” or you’ll be terminated. Welcome to Cigna… run for your life.

I am pretty sure people who say “HR don’t have time “ are in HR themselves 🤣🤣🤣
Are you kidding me ? HR don’t have time . What are they so busy at ? Making new rules . The LOL
Sorry but cracking up at the multiple people who think our HR is on here downvoting comments. Some of y’all have lost it
HR isn’t doing this. They are understaffed and don’t have time, especially with FOW reports and crackdown on the way.
That's the sense I got from the manager meeting. Seemed like they can't get this whole sh--s how off off their desks fast enough.
HR isn’t doing this. They are understaffed and don’t have time, especially with FOW reports and crackdown on the way. This is why Cigna hires an online “reputation management” company to bury negative social media posts, to Jack up ratings on Glassdoor and other places with fake reviews, and to alert the company when there are items they want to be aware of (like “my wife’s claims all denied” on LinkedIn so someone from PR can respond and make it seem like we care and are attentive). It’s gross but part of the internet landscape for mega corporations now.
HR monitors Glassdoor. They also monitor the comments on this site. If you know, you know.
Of course they are.
Addressing employee concerns in a meaningful way, well that takes intelligence and hard work. HR isn't interested in that.
Clicking some buttons to misrepresent employee reactions, a 5 year old could do that. Much more suited to HRs competencies.
It’s hilarious people think HR would waste their time here or care. People have become absolutely delusional 😂
Holy sh-t Cigna Human Resources are so pathetic 😂😂😂
Impossible to get any help from HR but they have the time to open and close a million browsers so they can downvote.
Losers
lol HR downvoting comments. Stooping so low 🤣
HR you are not slick. There’s no way 19 employees downvoted this. WE ALL HATE IT HERE!
Looks like HR is downvoting comments. Doesn’t change the truth. How does it feel to sell your soul every day to defend FOW?
I saw a Cigna-produced article on LinkedIn titled “ How the Cigna Group supports women in the workplace and in the communities we serve.” What a joke. And what’s worse is to see women at Cigna share the article on their feed.
Do us a favor and don’t spread the bs.
Every day is stressful and wearing. I’m worried about walking in and being told I no longer have a job. Around this company, I think that’s how they like you to feel, like somehow if you worry you’ll get laid off or fired then you’ll work harder, not sure how much more they can reduce staff, in my department we work 12-14 hours a day and are still always behind. This was supposed to be my dream company, more like a nightmare. I really hope that leadership wakes up and sees what they are doing is causing a great deal of stress or maybe they do know and just don’t care.
I’ve been gone for a minute! Was one of the earlier job eliminations after 15+ years of service. My manager was a nervous wreck in that meeting, along with the next level manager. I was elated and told them both it was a blessing for me.
Let’s face it, this is not the company it was 5 years ago. The employees well being is not priority, nor do they care about the years of talent they’re forcing out. There was a relief like I’ve never experienced on the first day out of the office (W@H). My phone still rings daily. Managers stalk my job board profiles, which I find hilarious. I took a position at another company, better benefits and more money. Much more opportunity and the people are incredibly happy. That tells me a lot.
Know that the grass is definitely greener!
Get out on your own terms.
Also OP, take advantage of the EAP program. You will get up to 10 mental health visits with a counselor paid for by Cigna. Not only might it help you deal with what is clearly a toxic traumatic job situation, but it will cost Cigna $. Pennies in a ocean to them but if every employee did this it would be a good chunk of change (though if utilization got too high they’d take away the benefit the following year)
This. All of this. I am lucky to work on a team where I’m not bullied and am treated like a professional by my boss and peers, but we get so much work foisted on us that our backlog is crushing. And to make it worse policies have been put in place that slow us down. And we’ve lost people to layoffs. We are all trying to pick up the pieces but are starting to burn out.
6 years ago Cigna was a great place to work and the culture separated it from other large corporations in CT. Crazy to see how much things have changed for the worse.
I know the company is paying for online reputation management companies to leave fake reviews on Glassdoor. Almost anyone who works here is going to put more than “this job is great” and “no cons I can think of” on their review. The reviews that are more than a sentence are all savage. I put in one of those reviews, I hope you would too to get out the warning. Cigna deserves a 1.5 or 2 not a 3.6. Especially after all the lies and broken promises. Would be different if they just owned the layoffs and didn’t act like we were middle schoolers.
I also tell everyone I know about how much Cigna has changed, and tell people who are business owners not to go with Cigna for insurance.
Stay strong everyone.
"At least they called it what it was - a layoff. Made the announcements and took the bad PR. They didn't try to make people leave."
Exactly!! I too have been in companies with layoffs and this is exactly how it was done. It is a part of corporate life, no way around it, but I have never seen anything like this.
I worked at Cigna for a little under two years in 2022 and 2023. Like you, I was told it was a great place to work when I joined. And for the first six months, it was. Then FOW happened, and it became clear that it wasn't a good place anymore. Talking to people, it seems like things started going downhill around five years ago, with a steep nosedive over the last year.
I came into Cigna from a layoff. That was a terrible experience. The company that laid me off wasn't great at communication. They made mistakes. However, my experience at Cigna has given me respect for my prior company. At least they called it what it was - a layoff. Made the announcements and took the bad PR. They didn't try to make people leave. Layoffs su-k, but looking back, I have a lot more respect for a company that just pulls off the bandaid and lays off a group of workers on a day and is done with it. Granted, they then lose that respect when there are multiple rounds of layoffs publically announced, profits are high, and the ELT doesn't take any cuts to their pay to help their employees.
All of this is to say that the way that Cigna is managing its layoffs and attrition plan is shady, stressful, and one of the most inhumane ways to do it.
