Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

Has riverbed gone down the drain yet?

What’s the latest on rvbd? . Are they hitting their revenue goals? Did Tworek and his useless Dunning Kruger brown nosing loser staff members achieve anything with their POS “observability” product ? Are they still laying off senior experienced people in favor of cheap kids? Are they still sc--wing people in their layoff packages? Is vector going to make a few billion bucks or did they buy a turkey? Come on. Inquiring minds want to know the inside dirt. Someone’s got to be reading this forum. Give us some juicy tidbits.

The people who know sh&t and get things done are the ones let go (and are called “expensive dead wood” by useless carpetbaggers who do nothing /take credit for others work ). The s&ck up carpetbaggers are kept on. Productive strong employees are out. A tale as old as time but nevertheless very maddening. Corporate America s&cks.

Real talk. "Expensive" dead wood was just code for ridding those who threatened the washed up coasting m@fo f00ks at the Director, VP, and C-Suite levels. I cursed my ex-boss with my voodoo doll and hope he gets what's coming to him and his cohorts. If you want to keep swirling the toilet bowl till the bitter end, don't stand out and don't rock out. VC is too stupid.

If you really must follow the word IQ with a number, can it not be single-digit?

Haha. Well with regard to EOL…..I KNOW FOR A FACT that a large number of maintenance contracts run out due to EOS/EOL in 2024/2025. The new sales are not going to make up for that loss as Steelhead sales have been off for at least three years. Maybe product management will extend past the 5 year EOS, but those contracts added up to tens of millions. So quite blowing smoke tworek.toadie(tm). Sure, Steelhead product line is not EOL and continues to sell but a significant number of Steelhead models HAVE been EOL’d. Five years after EOL, YOU HIT END OF SERVICE. End of service contract and end of $$$. The Steelheads that got EOL’d several years ago are the ones that had the big sales and corresponding big service contracts 7-8 years ago. So yeah. I know what I’m talking about. The “effluvium” products didn’t make up for the drop off in Steelhead sales no matter what you want to tell yourself

A con man is right! What do they care? Upper management have their golden parachutes. Gaslighting isn’t going to work here!

It’s not normal to spin up a new branding and completely drop it in three years, pretending it never happened. Pretending that Riverbed’s managerial thrashing and strategic missteps are somehow just like the rebranding of a successful company like Facebook, is just sad.

The Riverbed rank and file know perfectly well that this is not a healthy company. People read this site because they know they’re not getting the truth from management. The more management pretends everything is sunshine and roses, that doesn’t improve morale, it just further destroys it. Do you think you can lie your way to our trust? There are names for people like that: con men. You might think you’re helping the company by coming on here and blowing smoke, but you’re just harming the company further, at a time it can ill afford it.

Chipping in separately here. Definitely not a toadie or RT worshipper. The Alluvio name has disappeared like Twitter to X and Facebook to Meta. It’s quite normal for business owners to make these changes so losing Alluvio branding shouldn’t be a big deal for anyone. Change is constant….
You have been misinformed, The Steelhead xx70 and xx80 renewals do not fall off a cliff or EOL in 2025. This information is publicly available within the EOL support site. Support on xx70 series will continue for many years.

Interesting responses…2 comments ( likely the same tworek-toadie ) assert that after RVBD got rid of the “dead wood” and “corrected the past” ( and, oh, no layoffs…..) everything has been kittens and puppies and rainbows and profitability. Mmmhmmm. Sure. I got a bridge to sell you. The other 11 comments call bullsh&te on that. What to believe….sure looks like vector has dumped experienced (expensive) employees, replaced with cheap kids and is milking the renewals biz. But the renewals falls off a cliff in 2025 as a large number of steelhead models hit end of life. What happens then hmmm mr/ms tworek-toadie I also note that the “Alluvio” name seems to have disappeared from corporate site? I guess the “Effluvium” they were selling didn’t work.

@2syb+1sjX5qCo You are either Riverbed HR or in-house recruiter having trouble finding new hires because of comments like these or on Glassdoor and you are trying to cover up the dirt on what is really going in the company. It’s a misery factory.

"While not down the drain, it's a fun trip circling the toilet bowl."
This is by far the best description of what rvbd is doing

@2syb+1sjX5qCo Cut the cr-p. We all know the slackers aren’t the ones who got let go. Talented people who refused to brownnose were way more likely to get the axe than slackers and lifers doing the bare minimum (or less). Every one of us can name at least one person they were shocked got laid off, and half a dozen who should have been. And it was all because of who was whose buddy, not because of their performance. Riverbed isn’t a meritocracy, it’s a bunch of little fiefdoms ruled by fragile egos who’ve been making good salaries to drive the company into the ground. They didn’t get rid of dead wood, they cut down live trees to make room for dead wood. Either you know that and are just being dishonest about it, @2syb+1sjX5qCo or you’re one of the dead wood brownnosers yourself and you’re just trying to make yourself feel good about being a waste of oxygen.

@ @2syb+1sjX5qCo I worked at Riverbed for over 4 years and the teams I’d worked with were giving their all! They were passionate about their work and good at what they did. Vector has a mafia mentality- “it’s not personal, it’s just business” regarding layoffs. Teams are tacking tremendous workloads and morale is at an all time low. It was a great company and I hope it rebuilds for the sake of the hardworking teams. But questionable under Vector’s watch.

Post restructuring , they did of course get rid of some dead wood the past 4 months like any business . Sorry if that triggers some people. We sell endpoint monitoring and of course Mgmt can see when people have logged in and which apps they’ve been using. If you’re not performing or meeting role expectations then you are quickly exited. In my opinion there were lots of people still drifting, sleep at the wheel, too comfy at home and stuck in Covid mode.

@1gof+1sjX5qCo If it’s not all in one go, it’s not technically a layoff, just sparkling douchbaggery.

While not down the drain, it's a fun trip circling the toilet bowl.

Vector is only here to su-k every last dollar out of renewals by doing the absolute minimum to placate the handful of large logos that haven't shopped the competition. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a new hire or a "sales leader."

No layoffs but people leaving without jobs lined up because they are so miserable. Not hitting sales targets Q1. Product launch is a joke. 5 out of 9 people have left my team since March ‘24. Check out recent Glassdoor reviews.
