Thread regarding Ford layoffs

No Executive/ Investor Loyalty

The Big 3 OEM auto manufacturers are no longer loyal to their humble beginnings. Take for example Honda and Toyota - look at stock price and company financials compared to GM, Ford and Stellantis. Toyota and Honda invest in the business and employees, look at the CEO pay, unlike the big three who basically rob the company for everything it's worth. The big three are unable to weather a financial storm do to poor strategic planning, investments, and management. It's an f'ing joke, hiring cheap azz labor, engineering, millions of differ suppliers, nothing built in house. Honda and Toyota remain strong due to something called LOYALTY, something the big 3 no longer have. All three will fail some day, unless begin to start investing in their employees.

@psp+1shKYXFV, I'm not sure what you mean by 'being stuck in a land,' but if you're suggesting that Japan lacks concern for diversity and inclusion, you're mistaken. Like many modern societies worldwide, Japan has laws addressing these issues, such as gender equality and promoting employment for people with disabilities. Feel free to look them up.

DEI has nothing to do with the bone head decisions being made. When Hackett announced our exit from cars our fate was sealed. Diversity in workforce but no diversity in product offerings. Even if we were breaking even on cars it was still a worthy engineering exercise to keep that part of the business alive. I figure if we don't have anything to sell as an affordable first new car you never grow you customer base. For 30 years we talked of building a world car and the Fusion and Focus were close. We failed to bring a Fusion wagon to market because of greed to sell more SUVs. We ki-led the Focus brand with a poorly designed transmission which the engineers pointed out early in development. ZF must have had an ironclad agreement to build no matter what. Again poor decision.

As a retiree we are not insulated as our HRA and Pensions (if you did not take a lump sum) are still in play.

Japanese know how to make quality cars. We do not need to beat them we just need to make them as good as them. But the management refuses to focus on quality and is only worried about their fat salary and bonuses in the short term.

And the Japanese are not stuck in DEI land.

Do this country a favour and let them go out of business instantly. Any delay adds the suffering and damage to the economy
