Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Insurance? Really?

I can understand the bloated boomer workforce needed to be shed and useless assets optimized or sold. But with 2/3rds of heads left can’t we afford descent insurance for the remaining workforce?
Or maybe we are not big enough consumer base for the provider…

EM has always been self insured. Aetna just manages the claims. As a tenant in Greenspoint when asked to provide certificate of insurance, they self insured that business and any potential building damage, etc also.

It’s a continuation of our “Culture of Caring” and employees are are “most important asset”

Promlem is that management doesn’t walk the talk and they have no credibility with the people that work for them and do the heavy lifting day in and day out.

I heard a rumor that some employee did find that his dentist does take Delta PPO. Turns out he was wrong. Misread the Delta website.

Thank you KM. Are you sure you don’t need us? Are you?

Is this some American joke that I'm too first world to understand? Oh wait, that's right. Healthcare is "socialism" to you guys, isn't it?

Thanks, @2bz.
I think we retirees will receive official notification sometime in October. 90-day notice is the EM way.

Retirees question answer. Only thing I could find.
Don't FAQs arise as follow-up from a less than complete initial communication?
Q: How did retirees know even to ask these questions?
A: There was no communication!

To those questioning quality of Delta Dental & BCBS - both are Obamacare options and they su-k!!! Get ready for fewer providers in network and much higher out of pocket expense.

Costs (premiums and benefits) are not mentioned in the email or FAQ page, so that is pretty much a guaranttee that it will be economically worse for employees. if itwas a good change, the savings would be shared at max volume

Many dentist do not take Delta Dental. I had it on a retiree plan and it was terrible. When I went back to work I paid for the current employers Aetna insurance which my dentist takes. With Delta I was charged the full price for dental work, and would just get a little back from Delta. Also, most large companies are self insured for medical and just use companies like BCBS to manage the claims.

Let’s go Darren! Hahaha seriously let’s contract all that is intended too. Severance would be nice but let’s get this over with.

Consistent. Over the past at least 15 years employee benefits have been continuously reduced in all areas.

  • education reimbursement (unlimited for all to limited and required approval)
  • expat benefits (cut, cut, cut)
  • health insurance (cut, cut, cut)
  • career opportunities (many to limited)
  • office conditions (private office to neighborhoods)

And so on and so forth

Wake up people, the US benefits will only get worse. Didn't we all got spectacular salary increases last year and this year? With those increases, the total comp for each employee has ballooned beyond imagination. Now it's time to cut the benefits in some other ways.

All you need to know about Delta Dental is that their Premier Plan has the equivalent reimbursements to the current Aetna plan. That’s not what we are getting. Ours is be the Delta PPO with lower reimburses than the Premier. But don’t worry, their website says that while services will no longer be covered in full, we may get discounts as members of the PPO network. Your dental insurance just got replaced with discount coupons. Such a betrayal! Thank you KM.

Delta dental is what is offered by Obamacare. You can draw your own conclusions.

OP, can you describe in what ways the new insurance will be worse than what we have? I’m frankly not very familiar with BCBS, Delta Dental, or MetLife. So would be helpful to understand what facts or figures you are forming your opinion from. Thanks!

That's what we got at Pioneer. They may be rolling out a plan to cover employees at next to no cost like Pioneer currently has.

I'm guessing they're looking at ways to improve morale and that would be a good start.

Big moves such as this are simply EM Execs either trying to justify their bonuses or moving business to a friend’s company.

I guarantee this fits one of those 2 categories.

Nothing to do with benefitting employees.
