Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Geico to Allstate

I'm in an auto damage role at Geico and they are cutting benefits pay and straight up firing people left and right. Only a matter of time for myself.

I have an offer with Allstate auto damage remote. Please share me your thoughts so far I'm reading it sounds similar to the he-l I'm experiencing at Geico. I feel very hopeless.

The only input I have is if you can return a phone call you will be more valuable to this company than 90% of our current claim employees.

I’ll put it to you this way. They called a company wide meeting to talk about laying people off and they sometimes play music prior to town halls. They played “celebrate”. There’s just no one at the helm of this sinking ship.

If you want a company with no direction, lame benefits, poor morale, questionable ethics, inept leadership, stuck in the old ways of doing business, no job security whatsoever, constant threats of layoffs, egos that can't be backed up, ignorant to the insurance world process and system builders, being forced to be unethical, lying to and cheating their customers, ancient systems that never work right, script reading tech support, disgusting office politics, nepotism and favoritism in advancements, failed execution at almost every level, smoke and mirrors all around....then Allstate is the place for you!

They’ve had plenty of layoffs and sometimes do them in a very demeaning fashion. Their HR is about as bad as you can imagine. It’s no longer a company you can grow a career with. If you need a job, it’s probably about on par with GEICO so you should do what you need to do. Just don’t cave on any extra projects or extra duties. You won’t be compensated for them via raise or promotion. They are very poorly run and outsourcing as many jobs overseas as possible.

It’s the same **** here as it is at any carrier. I don’t mind this company, I get paid decent and get to work from home. I hustle through my work and they leave me alone95% of the time. If I sc--w up I apologize and say I’ll do better. I handle 6-8 desk reviews a days, it’s only hard because of shops. Every carrier is “the worst” it seems. My pay and PTO is decent, benefits su-k but I have the cr-p plan and pay like $5 a paycheck for it. If you’re going to get canned at Geico or if Allstate is offering more I would go for it, just remember layoffs could happen anytime but that’s capitalism for ya

You would be better off working as an independent adjuster for one of the contracting firms. Corporate life has gone even further downhill for the workers since the pandemic and the full on work from home. You will work 10 hours or more per day just to survive here. There are no opportunities unless you fit a DEI category and even those opps will be offshored or AI’d soon. Sorry bud. This ain’t the place to be unless you are desperate. Allstaters are looking elsewhere, waiting for severance or retiring soon. The new hires may be filled with hope and promises but it’s short lived.

It is very bad at Allstate. They cut benefits while raising paycheck deductions, less contributions to 401k, cut down a lot of area's PTO. Going AI crazy like many other companies and once that is in place there will be mass layoffs all around. Many here are looking for their out at Allstate or holding on for severance. They have force moved a lot of employees to employees of vendors without giving the decency of a severance package. There is a lot wrong here at Allstate and I could not in good conscience tell anyone to take a job here.

Depending what state you’re in benefits can su-k as they just cut ours per state leaving a bunch of people without some pto days
The only thing I can say is salaried vs hourly is a completely different world here.

If this is a salaried position I would go for it but hourly you will deal with the same thing
