Thread regarding Corning Inc. layoffs

GLW

Well, under WW Corning’s stock continues to hover around $32 during the hottest market in history as other tech companies are tripling their value.

Sullivan Park hasn’t had a new product in over a decade.

The Board keeps WW around only because they can’t find a suitable replacement.

They are liquidating as much property as they can locally while they continue to poor money into Three Rivers Development.

They decided not to buy the old Lando’s building which is now a homeless shelter but complain about the problems.

They abandoned the day car facility in Erwin.

Is this accurate? This is what people have been talking about. Anyone hearing the same ?

Corning stock stinks! Amazing these jokers have a job. Time to remove top management and put into place people who know what they are doing.

The zest of the company is gone, people now just going thru the motions to keep a paycheck.

WW has filled the management ranks with cronies, not bad people they are just misguided. Their idea of success is not disagreeing with WW so they can move up. Getting ahead in this way they never learned the skill of inspiring others with true leadership skills. All the People I speak with, 90% or so, have no faith in current management.

It might not sound good for the Corning patriots but the truth is industries/corporations follow tax breaks. That is why Corning is investing in MI and AZ. As a manufacturing industry, Corning has to do business and make shareholders happy - basically generate cashflow..make money.

That's old news. The Houghton era is over. This company will no longer be used by a parasitic city and state. All of that wasted capital is part of the issue forcing them to leave. The "soil contamination" horsesh!t was a poke in their eye and now it's spreading to other portions of the city. If Corning, NY loves Corning Incorporated so much, they certainly don't show it. Go and speak to Mr. Read in Houghton Plot. He was ready to go to g-ns against the company immediately. Corning Incorporated is correct in vacating a city that has turned it's back on them. Corning is not a non-profit organization, and will conduct itself accordingly.

Are you really that stupid ?? Corning inc is Corning, NY. Always has always will be. If they decide to leave you can turn the lights out. You need to brush up on your local history. Corning Inc made this city what it is!!!! They have poured millions into the community over the years, without their presence and support think Elmira.

It is not Corning Incorporated's responsibility to maintain the city of Corning. That is the responsibility of the local government. You can thank them for both the homeless/poverty issue and the lack of incentive for Corning Incorporated to hang around. Corning is building new facilities in Michigan and Arizona, rather than New York. The state and local leadership have left a lot of companies with no option but to leave. As far as Wendell's performance, everything is subjective.
