Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Conducted an experiment! Beware!!

October layoff still searching for a job.

I found out my PL has been giving bad references, and she shouldn't be giving a reference at all.

She is supposed to send people to the WorkDay number. I had a feeling this was happening, so I sent an internal friend to speak with her, and I had another friend call for a reference two days later. Both times she had horrible things to say although I left with an above average rating.

I do give the WorkDay number. This was moreso to see what she would do overall. So, food for thought to anyone who might be providing direct contacts.

When giving a contact phone number only include the WorkDay number. Never, ever give the contact info for any Directors, Managers or Supervisors. That is not just for Centene, do that for any past employer that has a WorkDay number or some other similar process.

I was laid off and had a cr-p ton of interviews internally. I was told "off record" my PL seemed very irritated that I was being considered. She obviously didn't want me to be hired elsewhere.

Needless to say NONE of those hiring managers touched me.

Centene does not follow the rule of law or promote people with ethics. I resigned too. A bit of advice: Take Centene OFF of your resume and LinkedIn and fill in the gap with "Personal Consulting" or something similar. I immediately had plenty of interviews and landed a much better job. I am so glad to be out of that place.

This is exactly why I did not put any of the supervisors or managers as a reference!! I had a strong feeling that they would purposely try to sabotage!!.

Who are the Managers? They need to be called out!

I believe this. I know for a fact that managers and PL's in Rich Chongs old team have given bad reviews to anyone who leaves on their own. Furloughed or resigned. Would this be the area by chance?

I hired a former employee from that area. The manager all but slandered the employee, but somehow gave a glowing performance review I discovered after digging deeper. I was later told it was common practice.

If you can prove it, you can sue the company. There’s a reason people leaders are NOT allowed to give references. Of course they do it anyway, but by policy they should not due to potential liability.
