It was 660 people yesterday. 2 weeks ago it was voluntary and they. Only got 200. Had we known 2,000 people were being laid off we could have made a more informed decision about the voluntary separation

Tomorrow will bring more sad news for union employees across several departments. This IS involuntary. WARN notices should post at end of day or by Monday. Info is from validated source.
Is everyone impacted receiving a package too? I realize the long term savings may be there - somewhere - but to let go of those with years of service = some big payouts not to mention the loss of knowledge will impact future earnings at some point. Lumen is ki-ling itself off. Clearly Kate's job to dismantle the company and perhaps once 1/4 of it is left, it will come back with a new name and purpose. And Kate will parachute off to retirement. I just PRAY I find something else ASAP!!!
“People!
Fiber is Lumen's future.
If they could, they would layoff all copper related technicians immediately. But, the union prevents that from happening.”
The “fiber” techs are prem techs and are union represented. The “copper” techs were doing fiber before the prem techs were hired. Your post is completely off base and irrelevant. Now, I could see the company ki-ling the union and keeping anyone who wants to stay and work for scab wages.
Exactly, @Post-Covid reality:
Actions make a person who they are, not words they speak. There are many very real "actionable items, decisions, changes" to look back on. NO ONE should be surprised by any of these results, any longer, based on Leadership actions, not just their words! Forget peeking behind the curtains, they are WIDE OPEN and just need to pay attention beyond what FB or X said yesterday.

Most unions used to advocate for the employees they represented. Unfortunately, most unions have diversified their representation in recent years and advocate for themselves more than who they represent....unions are big business now and they have flipped on why & how they negotiate. Just take a look at how the UAW, UPS handled their negotiations versus anything we get handed over several contracts now. Every contract your asked to vote on something you do not even know what's in it, other than taken your union leaders word for it (we do not see the final contract until it is ratified, so you have to take your unions word for it before voting) and every time we discover alot more was changed than discussed by these union leaders, beyond finding you have been flat out lied to. Unions fall back line everytime: well its better than the average "blue collar" worker gets and better than being unemployed?!?!??! Good leadership matters everywhere you go in this world.....take a quick look around and decide where you are seeing that anywhere right now. Folks, we will all be discovering what those fruits of our labor and loyalties have brought us once again! We are nothing more than a number and pawn in the "great chess game" we call life, and Unfortunately that number is the only thing that matters to all leadership, anywhere. Take your work responsibilities with a grain of salt and keep going till someone decides your number is up...
Hey, are we disrupting the industry yet? I can't tell.
it was closer to 1000 who took the voluntary package.

RIF #2 is not the last RIF. Workers should be ready for more layoffs after the horrible numbers come out for first quarter. Exaswitch and Fiber is not creating sales like they thought it would. Competitors do all that better, faster, and cheaper. Lumen needs to rethink their business model.
Wasn’t it 7.5% of like 28,000, so about 2,100.
660+200=2000?
