The upper management is complete Bas across Tech especially in VAS. Nothing happens to them who do stupid decisions

Does anyone know if O&I might also be targeted? There’s currently a big push to reduce costs everywhere to support profit growth trends.

Heard that the next target is PD teams. In SG they axed developers as well. They should punish higher management for their incorrect business decision rather than the actual ppl who work hard

What is the maximum number of months that could be covered as part of the severance? Could it be larger than 12 months?

My colleagues who lost their jobs without any warning or regard for their well-being deserve an apology, to say the least.

The layoffs mainly targeted roles that needed an overhaul due to being overly bureaucratic and distracting, like RM, PMO, TPM, scrum, etc.

Many of my peers see these roles as the ones that “talk about doing work” or “get in the way of doing work,” and they all heavily relied on engineering roles.

It seems like senior management wants to boost efficiency and possibly shift some responsibilities to the engineers.

numbers of yrs worked in months severance is given. - does it means for ex:- 5 months salary given for 5 years work experience under severance?

This is true, apparently it is an attempt remove job roles that add little value but get in the way of measurable work being done - release management and scrum masters.
It’s been handled terribly, a lot of panic internally with colleagues not knowing if they are affected.

It does not matter anymore who got impacted this week. Decisions are made and let's look ahead and move on. Life is too short to dwell and ask why me?

Looks like no one knows where this layoff is coming from. I suspect used here are the commit of code and the RTO numbers.

They seem to be outsourcing these redundant roles to cheaper offices such as Poland. Just look on the VISA career site at how many development roles are available here in comparison to none in other offices. Dev/QA layoffs seem impending…

In Visa’s North American “Value Added Services” group, roles under the IT organizational structure which were not directly involved with development were laid off. PMOs, Scrum Masters, various other supporting roles.

It's not focused on Austin in any way that I've seen. It focuses on Program Management primarily, and some Release Management teams as well, across different application verticals. A lot of info in this thread seems wrong, but it does seem PMO focused.

Visa does not care about specific roles. It's all decorative. If your title has TPM/Product/Program Management in it, you're under the broader "Product" umbrella and may be affected if the layoffs reach your org

When people say PMO being laid off, is that product management or program management? Also TPM= technical program or technical product management? Thanks

@1gfq+1sZAf4GR - what senior leadership is gone? It's not performance based. Whether your last review was "exceptional" or needs improvement matters not. The C-suite wants to reduce the number of non-coders. Most are eligible for re-hire in other jobs, but a bit ago the axed 30 product people while 30 product job openings were posted so? I have heard of senior leadership.

There have been workforce reductions in Austin, Germany, Bengaluru, and Poland. Primarily, this affected PMO, TPM, and Scrum Master positions.

Does look like global cuts. Most managers are oblivious to these changes. Even senior leadership is first hearing about this from word going around office. Formal announcement needs to just go out and give better info

It's not performance based af all. It's the elimination of certain roles globally (e.g. PMO). Also QA and Management roles are affected in some locations.

7-8% overall company wide layoff. Onshore off shore’s low performing candidates were axed. 2months + numbers of yrs worked in months severance is given.
Engineering managers are expected to do the PMO job in team.

There's a round 2 tomorrow. They let go of a lot of people on maternity/patenity leave too. They are clearing the books for a new direction.

Post ID: @1vve+1sZAf4GR

Yeah, I was one of them. The new vision of the company is less PMO and more engineers. So PMO jobs took a hit. But they are giving 2 months paid plus severance.

Global cuts? Seems there is a drive to hire younger talent, thus releasing more senior roles... What a mistake.

PM roles and scrum masters are axes in our Engineering org. I wouldn't be surprised if a round 2 is coming. No one is safe now...
