Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

How big is the 6/20 layoff supposed to be?

And does anyone know which areas will be impacted?

Sounds like IT will lose some roles to be moved to Hyderbad.

And Case Management will obviously be another area.

Is tomorrow the actual layoff date for June, not the 20th? Known areas

It would be nice to get ‘resigned’ with a golden parachute.

It has started. Look for people “resigning”. They got resigned if you understand that.

“ why does everyone keep saying cm? What areas are you talking about?”

The areas which have the most smokers.

Despite the ongoing rumors and wishful thinking, Just about every case management team I know of is already understaffed, why does everyone keep saying cm? What areas are you talking about?

Please let CM experience layoffs. I’m beyond ready to cash in on severance.

Oh, you are not nice lol! But yes, it would be a blessing for the case management nurses if it were actually true. Unfortunately, we're not going anywhere. I'd be happy if they switched it to an hourly role like the did the UR department.

All areas will be impacted as usual. And yes, that includes Case Management (sorry to joke but that question is always asked…but it sounds like a layoff might be a blessing in disguise if you’re a CM)

My guess is that it will be smaller for FTEs. Maybe 200 or less. Severance is expensive and we are gearing up to save in other ways with personnel:

  1. Firing contractors and replacing them with HIH employees who are cheaper (but we will get what we pay for)
  2. Attrition from people tired of the BS who quit who won’t be replaced
  3. Firing people who don’t comply with FOW

Those 3 hints will offset a lot of the layoffs we’ve been seeing. Not saying it is good, it’s all ugly, but that seems to be the plan for the next 6 months. Less layoffs but other ways of reducing payroll.
