Restructure Ford, huge HR department among the most incompetent

Most of talents are leaving Ford because they don't put up with incompetent SV, or they were simply kicked out. The behaviors of superiors and colleagues are often questionable, honesty, gratitude, collaboration, ... pushing many employees away. There is a huge department of HR at Ford (staff, talent, ...), I wonder what they are doing if neither ethics, nor talents are valued.

HR is not your enemy. That's one thing that most of this forum is wrong about.

They are grunts just like most of us. They are used to do the dirty work of layoffs.

HR was slashed during the SRD and SIRP just as badly as we were. Their jobs are being offshored or outsourced too.

HR is all new people and dreaming up the new Performance+ methods, Recognition+, and ultimately protecting Farley so he can execute his id--t plans. Employees are all lazy and stupid. HR is preparing the legal cull.

I know that our payroll is done in India and that has been for over 12 years already. I never have been comfortable with that.

HR is useless across most every corporation. It's not just a Ford thing.

Their core purpose is to protect the company, from any potential future issues in the liability space. Combine this with legal, and it makes for an incredible powerhouse.

  1. If you want a job that is typically protected at all times, apply as HR or Financial. Designers and engineers, and contract folks are dismissed routinely, but you will find that HR and financial analysts are hardly ever.
  1. Financial knows when the layoffs are coming, before everyone else. How do I know this? Family members that work in finance. They know before everyone else, possibly before HR.
  1. Never trust HR with anything, unless your purpose is to document an event. Elevate to manager, to senior manager, to HR, etc. None of them will be on your side, and all should an investigation pursue, they will find that they held an investigation, and determined nothing was wrong. This is standard operating procedure. When ever engaging HR, have a back up plan, such as something higher than their status - such as the EEOC, or any other government facility that regulate company ethics. When engaging with these fools, never show up unarmed unless it's very specifically calculated.

HR is to protect the company from EMPLOYEES. Or at least certain employees. The higher up you are, the more they protect. And forget about reporting them. Best case, you will be ignored.

HR works for the corporation, not the employees. For the first half of my career I didn't realize this, until one day I advised a team member to talk to HR and they told me that they didn't trust HR. When I thought about it, they were right. HR exists to help management run the company, not make like better for employees. Funny thing is, us managers also hate HR because they always use double speak when talking to employees, and leave us explaining the contradictions in HR policies.

Ford HR only exists to push the company's agenda. Do not use HR unless you are willing to face repercussions. Salaried HR is the biggest reason to vote for a salaried union, the incompetence is unbelievable. Bottom line is they are neither Human nor a Resource.

Wasnt the HR function farmed out to a contract company 10-15 years ago?

Did someone say HR is useless? If not I will. How often do you even see your HR team any more? Do you even know who your HR rep is?

About all they do is come up with new performances review processes every year that only guarantee the most unqualified candidates are to be promoted.

That and be the army that follows Bill Ford's orders for cutting.

Completely agree, note that HR aren't even attending job interviews. So interviewing is not anymore part of their tasks. The questions are chosen from a catalog. One migt have one or 2 technical questions at most. Just to tell the level of engineers who are getting on board nowadays

Was a victim of mobbing from several colleagues. As naive as I was, I decided to speak up. I was asked by HR to move on. Okay, in this case, why don't they move themselves and make way to colleagues who can do useful things!!!!

Same thought, most of tasks can be done automatically (filling out papers, bureaucracy). As for hiring skills, anyone can acquire with a training.
