Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

At-will blindside “farewell”

Former employee here. Over 20 years with repeat high performance and 3 promos (never a single below expectations). Was blindsided by Intel Audit digging up 5+ year old “low dollar” benefits related participation that turned out to be a mid-understanding. 5 years later Audit found technicality by which they deemed a violation of policy, although nothing flagged 5 years ago and company approved at that time with no issues. Now with company imploding and cost cutting at maximum, they terminated employment “at will”. Said other longtime employees also terminated for same technicality. Seems convenient to fire vs offering VSP and right before rule of 75 eligible. Curious as to other employees experiences with blindside “digging stuff up” to at-will jettison good senior folks.

Its the DEI at Intel that is the problem. They are rewarding people for making DEI only promotions and hiring. This is against the law and is doing the same thing they are accusing national socialists of doing. This company is also defrauding the government by saying they cant find people to employ and they can not make enough chips. They bagging their tools to lower capacity to fool the government to give them more money.

@1qfo I witnessed outsourced contractors repeatedly violating Intel code of conduct policies and accessing red cover material that they had no right to access using social engineering techniques, notified management, and absolutely NOTHING was done about it.

The mandatory annual Code of Conduct classes meant absolutely nothing to me after that.

Did OP work in a low-cost site but have high-cost geo site pay? Might violate some taxes policies or laws too?

I had a manager that said: "Take your wife out to dinner, I'll approve the expense." I reported this to HR, and they did nothing. Lot's of managers were scamming Intel. Had one manager tell me at a group dinner that I should pick up the tab, and he would approve it. Whereas, if he picked it up, he knew his manager would not approve.

All employees are at-will employment. You can quit anytime you want and they can let you go any time they wait. Laws require the employer to give at least 60 days severance but if you took a benefit you weren't entitled to receive than no severance. Seems pretty straight forward. What ever you did probably doesn't seem worth it now does it.

anyone at intel g10 and above can be fired at any time for no reason whatsoever with no recourse. its the downside of accepting all the enhanced benefits of being g10 and above. i wish intel would dismiss 50% of the g10 and above for no reason. would not impact the company whatsoever. i don't understand why intel is so terrified of letting these folks go. they have no recourse at all and most add no value to intel at all.

They are driving to quote”performance management” which means they are trying to get rid of people without a severance. It is the sign of a company in trouble. Like HP. Do not come to intel experienced or College
Grads. Dying company that is horrible to their employees.

What kind of issue did they find? Are they saying you accessed a benefit to which you were not entitled?

If true this is low even for Intel. Does the same technicality apply to ELT?
