I was separated in January. I think it's interesting which coworkers contact you after job elimination and most glaringly who doesn't. I truly appreciated those that reached out. I had made contact with my team and many others that I knew for years via a quick email to say I'm going to enjoy 'retirement'. I didn't say that I was severed but most knew layoffs were happening. I'm sure some knew my destiny before I did. Kind of surprised at a few that didn't reach out. What was your experience?

I was job eliminated in January, as well. My phone still rings weekly asking how I would handle something. I worked with incredible teams and continue to have relationships with many. I have helped several clients prepare resumes with hopes of helping them take their next step out of the fire.
The ones who where close to me reached out and kept in touch. Followed me as I interviewed for other jobs and offered to be my work references. I now am happily employed with good pay and better benefits. So I am in the process of helping my close co-workers apply for positions with my company so they too can leave.
Mine threw a party celebrating me leaving!
The majority ignored me like I had the plague. A few reached out, and some still stay in touch .
Loved it
Every job I’ve had that I was at more than a year I’ve found that 2-4 coworkersI remain friends with after I leave and the rest disappear. I think most people treat co-writers as just that and nothing more. Most I work with are nice people, but most aren’t the kind of people I want to maintain a relationship with afterwards.
Happy…NOT.
