Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Anyone else hoping to be laid off in the coming summer waves?

I do. I don’t want to be a part of this train wreck anymore.

I'm so ready to go! But if they got rid of the VP and director. I might like my job again.

I would love to take the summer off! I was going to quit, one of the directors told me not to. Her advice was “make them pay you to leave”

I’d like to hang on until January’s riff, but I don't know if I can mentally endure any more. We left Optum Circle for lunch last week, and came back after 18 holes, packed up and went home. Didn't miss a beat.

My sanity and my job are locked in a Mexican standoff, and frankly, I'm starting to sweat habanero sauce. Don't get me wrong, fellow employees are great – free fruit Fridays are legendary. But the work? It's like being stuck in a time warp fueled by stale coffee and lukewarm ambition.
Every project feels like a rehashed version of that "revolutionary" idea they had five years ago. Remember the "Digital experience 2.0"? Yeah, well, buckle up because "Digital experience 3x : Now with Slightly More Foggy Buzzwords" is just around the corner. My brain feels like a deflated whoopee cushion – squeezed, makes a pathetic noise, and offers nothing of value.
I'm at the point where I secretly hope for a workforce reduction package, you know, the kind that comes with a severance check and a therapist's "free first session" coupon. Honestly, at this point, I'd trade a year's worth of free fruit for the sweet escape of unemployment.
So, here's to you, optum! May your mygps align and your coffee cups never run dry. And hey, if a little "restructuring" happens to involve a generous stack of cash landing in my lap, well, let's just say I won't be complaining. My sanity (and maybe my liver) thanks you in advance.

I hope they will give me my job back. I heard a few people left after the last layoffs. Job market su-ks most jobs are just ai reports. You will have to apply to 20 to 30 jobs a day. It's taking 300 to a 1000 job applications to get a few interviews for wfh jobs. Many I know have been laid off for over a year when join the laid off club. Networking is not working. RN wfh job rate is down to 28 to 32 bucks per hour now in many wfh jobs. Optum was serously overpaying their employees anyways. Good luck.

They won’t ever ask for volunteers because they lose control of who to lay off. If you’re over 45- you are on the list. If you make too much money— you are on the list. If you aren’t an incompetent employee who doesn’t just say yes and is easy to control by your “leadership”— you are on the list. They will literally get rid of you under the guise of job elimination, and immediately backfill you with a friend or yes man/woman. So you see that’s why you will never see an ask for volunteers. So sad how this company operates.

I can't say that I'm hoping to get laid off, but I do understand where you're coming from. The constant anxiety of not knowing has taken an emotional toll. I find myself just wanting it all to be over and done with.

Truth be told, If I survived this round of cuts, I'd be relieved for a month or two, then the cycle would just start again. There are rumors of November RIFs too. When does it end?!

Yes, sooner the better! I do agree ask for volunteers as I think you will be surprised how many take you up on it.

Be careful what you wish for. The job market right now is absolutely awful. Doesn’t matter where you apply or how much experience you have, you’re up against 300, 400, 500+ other candidates. Sure you still have a chance, but be prepared for lots and lots of disappointment. Take it from someone who was recently laid off. This isn’t somewhere you want to be.

No! and I would never wish it on anyone, especially If you have a family member that is going through treatments. A layoff would add a financial burden on top of the emotional and physical challenges you already have. Treat us right is all I ask for. Offer Volunteer Packages.
