Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Contractor Layoffs

I’m an IT manager and just found out I have to fire all my contractors (US and offshore) which is about 3/4 the team and I have to replace them with FTEs from Hyderabad. Some of these guys have been on the team for 5-6 years and I am going to lose so much knowledge. My director doesn’t seem to agree that productivity will take a nose dive since knowledge transfer will be slow due to time zone difference and collaboration will be at a crawl since we’ll only have a one hour overlap every day. This will be disastrous for our team and for the enterprise. So if you’re a contractor, especially IT, I’d get your resume ready and let your company know that Cigna is letting contractors go.

IT is generally under Evernorth as it serves the whole enterprise. Expect these cuts and shift to HIH to happen from now through the next 12 months. Will impact all IT including CSC and Help Desk

When? What part of IT? Will CSC/Service Desk be affected?

Do you mind sharing if you're in ES, Evernorth, MA or commercial part of IT?

"Contractors are supposed to be temporary. "
Could not have missed the point anymore than you have.

“My director doesn’t seem to agree that productivity will take a nose dive”

Your director is following orders as told.

Your director knows it will be an issue he just wants you to make it NOT be an issue by any means necessary. Everyone knows this strategy will not work except the bean counters.
