Thread regarding Optum layoffs

June to Sept 2024 layoffs coming

Any naysayers look it up.
"As of May 20, 2024, Optum announced that layoffs would occur in three waves, with some employees' last day of employment beginning on July 15 and the remaining layoffs ending on August 23. The layoffs include positions such as business systems analysts, printers, and business operations coordinators"

I am shocked they're actually doing a warn act! what a rare occurrence. As far as CHA's, I would be very concerned, because NP/ providers continue to leave. You can't add patients to caseloads that need coverage...

I am hearing July for cha managers. Where did you hear June?

I was a CHA in the TN market and I did not feel safe. I have transferred to a UHC position. I think it's really up in the air. On one hand, they are hiring a ton for Central Outreach and paying half of what CHA's are paid. On the other hand, there have been CHA's that were hired after the March layoff. So, why hire someone they will be laying off in a few months anyway? I have heard that CHA managers will be let go in June and CHA's in the September wave. I would for sure update your resume and at least be submitting some just in case.

I would speculate that CHAs are not safe. If you look at the new job postings you will see they are hiring a large team of people with a HS diploma to make calls to engage patients.

This is specifically regarding Ohio location and should not be regarded as true for other areas. Including the location in the title would be nice.

Is there any more info on the possible impact to ERA (enterprise reporting & analytics)?

Are CHAs safe ? (Pls say yes)

I would also like an answer to that question as well l, so I can get off this emotional rollercoaster they’ve been keeping everyone on. It’s been brutal.
With the recent mass hiring of central outreach, amongst other things, I don’t get a warm and fuzzy feeling that they plan to keep CHAs around. We can hope for the best, but also be prepared for what could happen.
