Retention bonus until postion moved to offshore

Do we know what percentage of people get a retention bonus..as far I came to know, this is being offered to only those people whose positions will be terminated in Dec and they are being kept just for Handover to offshore

There were two retention programs: 1.) For "transition" employees and 2.) To keep employees they need who they thought would quit or leave. For the transition people, they have set end dates ranging from September to December. For non-transition people, these employees have no end date and were given a bonus to not leave before the end of the year... and that bonus differs wildly based on tenure and rank.

It's confusing, especially when the term "retention" is being thrown around. I can say, transition employees have completely checked out and I don't blame them. It was a poorly managed and executed RIF. I also have my doubts about the "offshore everything" directive. I've worked with these offshore contractors for over a year now in various departments, and we're talking about bargain basement labor that is fully incapable of independent thinking or even completing basic tasks. There are better places to "offshore"; Mexico and Brazil come to mind. If I have to work with contractors, at least give me competent people. I've spent days training them only for them to turn around and completely forget how to do what we just went over. There's almost zero investment on their part and they only show up for a paycheck, act as a warm body to check a box, and to do below the bare minimum.

The only "bonus" was a layoff to the group of people a couple weeks ago. How/why you stay on board for this massive offshoring exercise is beyond me.

Not true. People on a transition got a different transition plan bonus with an already communicated exit date for end of year or sooner. Retentions were for employees to be retained further out.
