Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Right? Right? Right? Right? Right?

Hi Upper Midwestern coworkers,

Say, we've had this talk before but we need to have it again.

Constantly saying the word 'right?' multiple times in the same sentence makes you sound like a sheltered geek. Let's look at an example...

Normal conversational sentence:

First, open the spreadsheet and click on the Accounts tab. Make your updates and then save.

Let's look at how upper Midwesterns trying to sound hip/current would say it:

First, right? Open the spreadsheet, right? And then click on Accounts tab, right? And then save, right?

Imagine listening to that in every meeting, and especially 1+ hour long meetings 🤮

The weirdest thing is that it's employees over 40, over 50, etc that are doing this. It's not young interns or something.

It's almost like they're trying to mimic what they think people on the West Coast sound like, but I've never heard my West Coast coworkers talk like that.

Mostly looking at you, Minnesota, but some in nearby states have it too.

And no, it's not everyone from the upper Midwest. But everyone that does it is from there.
