I just started. Where do I look to find the CL level or is that something that HR tells me at some point ?

I'm 6 yrs in. It was a year before I even knew what CL was and then another 2 before I learned mine (to be fair I never asked). My current supervisor communicates it every year at salary communication now.
When I was hired, I was not told my CL level or even what it was. I heard about CLs from my colleagues and I had to sort of drag it out of my boss. It’s a bit more transparent now, but it’s terrible that this (and the annual performance stuff) isn’t explained to new hires.
Caveat emptor I suppose. But I now tell friends who are interviewing for jobs that they should be sure to ask how the company judges and rewards performance.
No, I was not told about CL when I hired on. Then someone (not my boss) explained to me about CL and its significance.
What is really sick is to find out your boss is at the same CL. They can view you as a competitor and tank your career.

CL communication should always be communicated with salary update in December. It doesn't make sense that ppl aren't aware for CL, either trolls or you choose not to know.
I’m confused. You’re told your CL when you start and every time you get a CL promotion. Just ask your supervisor.
When I asked my supervisor several years ago, she seemed uncomfortable telling me my CL level. Not sure why. I was at CL 28/29 when I resigned for better career options. Also culture was too toxic for my mental health.
Officially not. But the official guidance during IDP is that you should give quite alot of info around utlimate position.
More than enough info that you can effectively pin it down to a very narrow range - especially if you are (or have been) a supervisor yourself.
What about CL potential? Is that ever shared
Annoyingly you cannot see it yourself, but its no longer as secretive as it used to be. Supervisor should know. Also its very standardized (unless an experiencd hire) so pretty easy to figure out.
