I have been commuting 42 miles one way to charlotte hub. Does that mean I will be laid off soon ?

It's an excuse, they wanted to get rid of you already, location strategy is just a legal approved excuse. There are execs and upper management types as well in the CIC that live in SC. And yet, they aren't getting termed for it. Shocking.
I live under 40 miles to cic but I’ve been -100% remote for 8 years. But- I live in SC. So even though I am within the radius- because I live in SC I am in a “micro location” and told i will be let go. I think the 40mile rule is a lie.
There are a lot of Execs who are remote, can’t wait to see how all of this impacts them.
I have wondered what would happen if somebody outside the 40 mile limit rented a PO box close to the office and told their boss they moved near the hub over the weekend. Change your home address in Workday to the PO Box and don't talk about where you live at work. It might get them off the list.
LOL. My hub is 95 miles away. See ya! I know I am on the list. It's only a matter of time.
They don't, they just want an excuse to fire you that legal has signed off on.
Why would this sh-tshow of a company care how long or how much it costs you to commute?
I commute 90 mins , one way, to my office, 3 times a week. I get at work at 7 AM and leave at 11 AM, and get home about 12:30. My manager says as long as I go to the office and stay for a few hours I'm good.
This may be completely true, but who among us has the trust in this executive team to risk it? Buying a new house that happens to be 43 miles away is a high risk activity with the NYC clown show running things.
Now, how the F is anyone suppose to know about your own personal situation?
the 40 miles rule is really only being used when your location is changed by the company or you were remote and are assignes a location. If you are currently assigned a location and are commuting >40mi they won't do anything.
It's horse S that the company cares where you live. Can they assign a work location? Obviously, but what business is it of theirs where you live, so long as you are at your assigned site at your assigned time? It's completely irrelevant, other than that they are using it as an excuse to fire people for no legitimate reason.
I'm so tired of these liars in Hudson Yards. All they know how to do is fire people and lie to them about it. That's the sum total of their skills/talent. Textbook failed leadership on so many fronts.
My LoB said if you live beyond the 40 mile limit and you choose to commute at your own expense- knock yourself out. I know people commuting 90 min to 2 hours one way, a few times a week. They have been doing it for 18 months now. They still have their job.
Pretty soon, Uncle Schrf be implementing 40 acres and a mule!
Sorry OP, it depends entirely on your role, LOB, etc. it may be an excuse to lay you off, and it may be completely irrelevant in your group for all employees.
- and you have to ask this question?
Really?
