Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Get out or go down with the titanic

Working here was the biggest mistake I've made in my career.

  • Morale is below the basement
  • Pay is below market
  • Co workers are warming their seats, no actual work is being done.

Look at good stocks and look at Ford's ; decades of stagnancy and mediocrity.

If you have any respect for yourself, make a plan and get out

Gotta love how our clueless execs are backtracking on dealer requirements to sell EVs now.....with sales down we will be dumping them on all dealers, not just half of them.....good luck!

@2lvd+1sLHPOC3 - Oh young one, you'll soon learn the ways. However, if you are an older employee and haven't yet learned then it cannot be helped. There is no escaping the sheer a$$-hattery of the automotive industry as a whole right now. Dealerships are pi---d because customers are pi---d at them. OEMs continue to have to back track on doubling down on what the gub'ment told them to do. Toyota and Honda eat their lunch having had more insight into the coming disaster that is full EV adoption at the outset. High rates, high inventory, and whole divisions that are loss leaders for multiple years in a row are excused with the same tired old "start-up" costing scapegoat. If you want to stay and trust your career to these fools, then by all means do so. However, your time will be better invested in a more resilient industry that doesn't depend on consumers going into debt on over-engineered junk with features they will not only ignore, but that they never asked for. All the while basic stuff like latches, fuel pumps, and wiring (the basics) have issues because in reference that high tech BS no one needs, they need to save money somewhere. That's fine, just hire more software engineers...that will fix everything.

feel lucky to be in the wing im in i guess, everyone around me is working very hard, is kind and intelligent, and feels like we have made a lot of progress since i joined to modernize. our system is pretty slick now and work is pretty interesting. if your boss is su-king up or smartly playing the game still matters too much unfortunately

This is not unique to Ford. It’s a cultural phenomenon. People are so status and wealth obsessed in this country that many are willing to do anything to make a buck. Misrepresent facts, lie, cheat, steal, etc. We are however at a turning point where misdeeds that are swept under the rug can no longer remain there because we are in the Information Age. Those that get there by lying are being exposed; all their sh-t is floating to the top. If you are a person of integrity: focus on the area you can influence. If you don’t become a big shot for doing the right thing, so what? All of them are in a perpetual state of fear because somewhere along the line they compromised, and they just keep racking those up as time goes on. They know it is for a short season.

You should always have an exit plan at any employer. Anything less is being in the game as an NPC. Anyone who thinks any large company the size of Ford gives a monkey's about them is delusional. Yes posting on a board about your pay is not a power move. But neither is shilling for a company that will treat you like a square of charmin if it suits them. The company has no feelings. It doesn't care about your 30 years, it should be evident due to the layoffs of even high performers that this is the case. If you've been there more than 10 years quit telling people to leave...how about you leave? Too comfy I guess. Good luck hoping they don't lay you off before your kids finish college or the cars are paid off.

@spu+1sLHPOC3: Let me add one more game changer to the list. Ford should step up its game on automatic transmissions, designing and building more of them that won't fail catastrophically before they reach 100,000 miles. I'm not sure that diesel power would be the best solution for a Ford Focus; I'd prefer to see a new Focus (and a new Fusion) with a non-turbo gasoline engine or a hybrid powertrain.

This is a cheap ploy to convince coworkers to be disgruntled as well and complain with them or possibly quit. All this in hopes that the OP becomes more valuable as the better people around them have left. Sorry to say, this rarely works. Most of your coworkers are happy and would rather put their energy into doing a good job every day instead of trying to drag others down. No worries my friend, your boss can see right through this and you will likely be on the next list. The. You can complain about the pay you get when unemployed,

These responses are pathetic. The OP is 100% right and you all have your head in the sand. Or somewhere worse ....

Your answer, I’ll complain about my pay on an anonymous website. Looks like you are really tackling your problem head on.
