Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

Coaching for bad managers and then what?

My manager has been assigned a coach. She keeps asking about me meeting with him. It feels like a trap. What happens after the manager gets a coach? Do they fire her and lay off her team?

The internal coaches are regular MetLife employees who volunteered to take a course and are now deemed MetLife Coaches. They are not qualified in the true sense of career coaching. These employees are also worried if they too will get laid off from their jobs at any given moment. Also ask yourself, how successful they truly are in their day jobs.

Honey, this is not good for you. Does management give bad managers more AVIP money for their teams? Start looking yesterday for a different job.

What do you mean, "She keeps asking about me meeting with him. It feels like a trap."

Did you meet with the coach and your boss is asking about that meeting? Or are you saying that your boss wants you to meet with her coach? (Why? Does she want to the coach to see some negative aspect of you for himself?)

None of this sounds good.

It is another "cloak and dagger" concept at MetLife. Why would MetLife waste more resources to make money for the company. There has to be an ulterior motive in their end game.

It's all window dressing, the "coach" is a "trained" MetLife employee. You are under no obligation to meet with the "coach". This is upper management trying to pretend that "they act on our feedback". Nothing will become of it. It's also metrics for the new coaching program. Proceed with caution.
