Thread regarding Ford layoffs

We won’t be selling customers’ data after all..

So much for our planned revenue stream from data sales, the federal government is putting the brakes on that plan. From the Detroit News:

The message from the Federal Trade Commission comes after outcry from U.S. Senators and a series of alarming New York Times reports of automakers…releasing consumer data without the customers' knowledge.

"Car manufacturers — and all businesses — should take note that the FTC will take action to protect consumers against the illegal collection, use, and disclosure of their personal data," the agency wrote in a recent blog post.

I don’t believe anything the FTC or federal govt says. Data gonna flow for revenue, that’s how far left social media and other tech companies make their money and hire more people.

FTC gonna cave on this, in Supreme Court.

Jim Farley (or mark fields?) a few years ago

“Data will be the new oil for revenue”

So much for that revenue stream. At the time, I thought, “really are they gonna outdo Google and Facebook to monetize data from customers?”

To the surprise of no one paying attention. And Bill Ford says he wants Ford to be the most trusted company on Earth. What a blow hard.

Who didn't see this coming... like the BEV waning demand, and the loss of quality due to ditching the NA white collars employees and outsourcing their jobs to LCCs. Still, the C suite gets millions of dollars in bonuses for these wrong decisions... SMH.

The problem is that anyone that uses Fordpass and the cellular modem in the vehicle willingly agrees to give up their data.

Don't authorize your modem. Delete the Fordpass app from your phone. Better yet ditchb your phone!

Car salesman is a salesman of all things and not generally trusted. Most people use temp email and throwaway trac phones designated just for anything purchased. Those paying cash have a poor credit score so their credit score is not appetizing for thieves gouging the credit unions. Home address info is public anyway on the county tax roll. Most are self employed with no employer listed for cash sale. Leaves scraps for thugs to sell.

There’s been a change in strategy. The new plan is to sell Alexandra’s tshirts in the train station lobby.
