Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Don't try to be a leader in EVERYTHING and get thinly spread

Intel missed the 3G opportunity, and now it is missing the AI compute opportunity. It did manage to do very well with the PC/laptop opportunity for many years, but it could not reinvent itself to keep laptops/desktops relevant to the expectations of the consumers. When you ask the question "What is the next big thing (or the next hero application) in client computing?" nobody can give you a clear and convincing answer at Intel, which is worrying. Client computing ran out of steam with no real beneficial AI compute workloads to justify an AI PC. I think the most sensible pursuit for client devices is "make them energy efficient, make them faster, make them cheaper" moving forward rather than trying to justify why the new & "the glorious" AI PC is so important and will be transformative. Go back to basics, and create a flawless execution pipeline and success may follow. Get the leadership on the ONE thing you are truly good at. Don't try to be a leader in EVERYTHING and get thinly spread. Be realistic, not greedy!

@lio+1sEa5Thi makes an excellent point.

@eui Intel is like this because leadership is too dim to grasp the trade offs and risks instantaneously looking forward where excel sheets are not available and arrogant as to be blinded by what is actually required to be successful

@eui... Intel is the old fat guy at the back of the pack and failing further behind.

Corrupted corporate has no way out and is drowning at the bottom of their own sh--t unless there are punishments.

Intel's value is tied up in an irrational, over weight structure. Nothing can grow on this structure other than headcount and other costs. Its like many bug tied on a string. The board needs to cut them loose before they all die.

Perhaps the consultants can do that.

Great point. Go on the internet and search for the fearless leaders comments.
Intel wants to be the leading edge A.I. chip maker kicking everyones a-s.
AND Intel wants want to be the fair and ethical Fab making leading edge chips for everyone else.
AND Intel wants to be the governments chip maker focusing mainly on chips the government says we need.
W.T.F. WHO IS Intel?

If you want a stock that goes up, you need growth. Intel’s dead money until it can demonstrate meaningful growth.

Intel doesn't need growth. It has proven that it cannot do so even under extremely favorable conditions. Now, Intel needs CUT and split.

Somebody forgot to tell OP that Intel sells x86 processors which form the vast majority of the revenue and profit. “One thing”

This market is tapped out and Intel needs growth.
