With the latest reorg, and many being moved into new roles as Architects or Engineers, you have to ask the validity of using these titles without certification from the appropriate professional societies?

ANY certification is bunk. It is demanded to help managers have a ranking method, since they really don't know what their staff is doing. It also helps convince customers that they are dealing with competent people. Never mind the quality, feel the width!
Wait a second. Are you saying my Oracle Enterprise Architect OEA certification is worthless? It is right there in my email signature.
At least the beginning of the end!
Looks like beginning rather than end.
Titles are meaningless, and so are certifications!
The titles are meaningless ….until someone commits other acts of fraud. Its become a long laundering list. It will be an interesting summer.

These titles are all meaningless
Job titles are nonsense. It’s all about the work and the compensation.
All you hand-wringing Oracle employees just need to remember what Bill Murray said to his administrator in Ghost Busters who was threatening to quit:
"Someone with your qualifications should have no problem finding work in either the food service or house keeping industries."
FYI you can sleep better knowing that professional titles in those industries have improved greatly in the last few years. I.e,
- Dish Engineer
- Domicile Executive

You’ll find out.
Time and patience, Patience and time.
Didn't see any re-org, are you referring to sales?
At my old company they added the word engineer to their role. The people have never once touched software in that sense. They also had no certs. That’s just a way for oracle to tell customers they have engineers and architects working on sh-t.
Is the pay consummate with the title? If not then FO.
I'm an "enterprise architect". The Oracle stamp added to my email signature proves it. I had to pass a bunch of online Oracle tests to earn the stamp and title.
Oh and I almost forgot. Dress code/job req for EAs is black suit, white shirt.
Only if it makes it to the courts!
Who really cares.
