The monied elites that run these big corporations have to show their fellow elites that they are "on the team". So, you get insane behavior like Ford is engaging in.
That is, until economic reality pushes back.

That's why I only do the bare minimum. Keep my camera and mic turned off during meetings, speak only when spoken to, fly under the radar. A reminder that these companies don't care about you at all and would outsource your job to Brazil in a second if the execs can give themselves a bigger bonus.
