I used to wonder how to get promoted in HR. Ive learned that if you kiss the hem of Becky M’s church clothes, you get rewarded with a promotion. If you choose to have your own thoughts… you are deemed a trouble maker in her eyes. She’s hiring sheep if anyone wants to join our team.

You nailed that call on the née CHRO. Well done. You get to WFH when you want as a reward.
This is far, FAR from an isolated experience. I’ve been there back a long time and finally came to the understanding that I can be thankful for the opportunities that I’ve had there but realize that I’ve done most of the work to make those opportunity come to fruition. I have so many horror stories that I could write a book. We have an absent HR organization and it’s been like that for the two decades that I’ve been there. It’s truly a terrible place to work, minus the money.
Give her a break. She is trying to earn her keep. She is trying her hardest to be promoted to AVP or VP, most likely. The most people she can fire or demote make her feel most powerful. This makes her look good to the higher ups.
So if you know this, then why stay? Life is too short to live in misery like you are. That stress probably carries over to your family life as well. Do them and your mental well-being a favor and find something that makes you happy. USAA is not getting better.
100% This is the way it is everywhere at USAA. It started when Robles pushed all the USAA execs out and replaced them with Wall Street rejects that lost their jobs because of the 2008 financial crisis they created. Ever since then, you have to be a mindless, a-s kissing, yes man to progress. This new Wall Street reject leadership team doesn’t want anyone surrounding them that may sometimes say no and isn’t afraid to offer alternative viewpoints, they want yes people. Lemmings that will do what they are told and will never challenge them. The old USAA is dead and new USAA is a complete sh-t show.
to the person to posted this... what keeps you at USAA? Maybe you should ask yourself...it is time for me to LEAVE? you seem a miserable... just sayin... "That lady is feeling herself! She loves the power. I feel horrible for our entire team! Not to mention her daily attendance check where she slithers down each aisle under the guise of saying “good morning” just to make sure we have our butts in a our seats. Micromanaging at its finest. I throw up a little every time I see her walking my way.
Don't worry, the new CHRO Tami C. will save you. She's from two dying companies and will bring that same vibe here, like the BoA and Citi-cŭnts did for the bank.

No need to sell your soul to the devil there are other companies save yourself respect and get the he-l out of there
This is the USAA way….
Fall in line. Any objectivity, then you must drink more koolaid! I’m hopefully hearing something this week about my escape from this dumpster fire.

That's how ALL of USAA is!
