Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Why should I bother anymore?

It's bewildering to me why SAP believes it's acceptable to subject people to this rollercoaster ride of anxiety. In 2022, despite receiving tempting offers from competitors, I made the conscious decision to remain loyal to SAP because I genuinely appreciated the culture and the people here, even though it meant forgoing a substantial 20% salary increase.

However, I find myself questioning whether prioritizing my SAP’s interest over myself is still the right choice.

CK often emphasizes the importance of employee performance, But this principle cuts both ways. SAP has shown not to offer loyalty and everyone is a paycheck away from being put under alow of pressure and anxiety.

If a competitor reaches out with an enticing opportunity, I may find it difficult not to entertain their offer, without a second thought for SAP or the management team.

Don't. Do the bare minimum and collect your paycheck. Within 12 months there will be a new layoff announced anyway

OP, nothing has changed since 2017 when I got laid off. We said the exact same things that you said, and guess what? SAP is still surviving.

Same old, same old. Don't get too affected, guys. It's just a job that pays you $ to enjoy life. Move on, there is a world outside of the SAP ecosystem.

No company is loyal to its employees. Anyone with a functioning brain cell should understand that companies are like people, except they aren’t held to any meaningful standard of accountability. You need to always be looking out for yourself and jump ship when the next opportunity comes along.

Because you're collecting a paycheck and you may want to take a stab at earning it?

Here's the bottom line. There seems to be this idea out there that some other one or some other thing needs to motivate you. You motivate you. I didn't need my manager or the leadership to motivate me to do my job. I got a job, with a decent paycheck, because I wanted to have a more comfortable life and provide for my family.

This is business. The idea that we're a "family" or something like that is a construct... its propaganda, its bullsh-t. Don't worship at the altar of The Corporation. In fact, don't worship at any altar. Define your own purpose and work towards achieving it.

All you owe them is a hard day's work for a paycheck, and all they owe you is that paycheck for that hard day's work.

all CK and execs talk is garbage...Their trust score is going down within the company. Never believe in the company and just improve & trust your skills and move on. Life is short. Earn hard, play hard.

That culture is gone, customer focus, quality or the basic feeling of being treated as an human being is not a given at SAP anymore.

If in a high cost location I imagine offshore efforts will continue as I don’t see AI being a big seller of any SAP product - just a few demos to fool customers / investors so next year board will use another buzzword they learned at Davos and launch something like “beyond the next level” to justify more layoffs / offshoring.

I feel the phantom menace now is part of SAP culture - performance not being a criteria for layoff and your direct manager having no say on it just ki-led any motivation and morale left as I try to find any tradeoff for being underpaid.
