My team was just notified that anyone under Jen Drexinger is losing the flexible schedule option. You now have to pick a set schedule and stick to it. If you log in more than 15 minutes late it's considered a tardy. Not sure when it goes into effect.

The flex schedule did not change. We have always been required to notify and have a set schedule and if needing to flex then you notify. Centene is a gross company but stop spreading falsehoods just because youre being asked to adhere to what always has been.
I am just so sick of this convoluted company. This job actually made me physically sick, and all the gaslighting just shows favoritism and how HR picked the wrong people as leaders. I actually had my manager acuse me of a complaint she heard about from my team. She actually said “it was probably you” …WTF. I told her it most certainly was not, how unprofessional! So happy to now be in a new company that treats its employees like people.
Some of us never were able to have flexible schedules due to business needs. Don’t like the change start looking for something else
Sorry to say it buts let’s be honest: People have abused Flex Time.
They’ve used it for side hustles, second jobs, and to do a lot of things that aren’t work related.
The amount of time it takes to get work done or get responses from people who should be AT THE DESK working has increased dramatically.
You know it’s true. Let’s at least accept that there are many people taking advantage.
What su-ks is it makes the rest of us who DO put in the time look bad.
Centene’s “Flex Time” is a joke since they first put it in place. Centenes Flex Time is not true Flex Time. Flex Time should have core work hours, say from 8:00am to 11:00am and from 1:00pm to 2:30pm each day. That way as an employee I could actually schedule a Drs appointment at 2:50pm and still put in a full day without having to use Sick Time or Vacation. Or I could make up whatever hours I am short by the end of the workweek. I had one supervisor that wanted us to commit to clocking in at a certain time with no exceptions. That is not true Flex Time. So what ended up happening is everyone came in at whatever time they showed up, of course always before 8:00am or right at 8:00am. I was never told that I could Not take an hour lunch everyday as it affected my numbers so it looked like I did nothing for any time over the 30 minutes allotted for lunch. So even though I worked my full hours each day I still got dinged. What a CR-P System!! Of course I didn't know the policy for counting hours had been changed by upper management some time ago because we had a new Supervisor that was hired from outside. She didn’t know the difference, talk about poor, poor leadership on the managers part! This is just one example of how Centene has changed the polices and NOT in favor of the employees. So glad I’m out!!!
It's just a matter of time before claims processors are replaced by automation completely. It behooves you to get into another line of work. Best of luck to you all.
This is inaccurate information. I wish this forum fact checked information before allowing it to be published. You still get to pick your schedule and flex (within a larger window now), you are just now required to notify your people leader. Most teams were already doing this…….
All you guys ever do it complain. What other company lets you pick the time you get to come in? If you find one go work there. This job is easy and you guys have been babies way too long. Time to grow up or move on.
Claims processing has historically been an area that allowed flexibility to incentivize production based teams and limit attrition. If they're removing flexible schedules, it's likely to "thin the herd" because claims are already being processed across multiple time zones and the only example that could potentially apply is someone working before 6am EST for reporting purposes.
This is just an example of leadership destroying morale under the guise of business need, when truthfully they plan to just migrate all the work to vendors.
I would definitely encourage those impacted to proactively look for another opportunity. I can assure you the leadership mentioned will not be advocating on your behalf.
It is what it is.
You can’t change it, and posting here won’t do any good. Your options are live with it or find a new job.
Time to tell Centene to Flex Off.
What's the difference between logging in @ 5am or 8am?
Claims ops is widget delivery type function with specific timeframes surrounding that work. I can see why flex hours are an issue.
Remember - Flex Time is not guranteed for the entire company. It was always role and leader specific.
