Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Phase 3

Does anyone think after the FOW announcement yesterday that there will be a phase 3 for the “No seat assigned” designation

"I guess they won't ever make contractors go in though (what a crock)."

I just laugh to myself. What if Cordani bought up all the coffee shops and eateries near the Cigna offices. What a crazy twist that would be.

This is just speculation (I have no insider information), but I wouldn't be surprised if they slowly made the hybrid people 5 day/week in the office. And eventually did the same for the now so-called "In-Person Office-Aligned (Interim Work at Home)".

I'm so tired of this and am now so distrustful of the company. So many articles about Cigna being a top workplace of choice, desirable company partner, etc. I'd say give it a year or 2 before Cigna starts losing such titles, its clients, etc. AI cannot do everything, and neither can overseas workers (and let's not even get into privacy and security issues o related to these). Valuable employees are difficult (and sometimes impossible) to replace, and it will be hard to attract talent without offering the ever diminishing benefits of things like WFH. Corporate/investor greed will be Cigna's downfall. I hate to say it, but now I hope entities like the government make sure if it.

Is it too late for the company to turn itself around? Maybe, maybe not. But the train has already left the station, numerous valuable people have been let go/left, and morale is in the pits. Not sure what my own plan is right now. But good luck to all of us!

I believe the whole purpose is to wait until the last minute least it's seemingly that way from the meetings we've all been on and here in the Midwest our office is almost basically empty. But that may change obviously and my thought is how was that even legal to ask people to relocate to keep a job or be terminated I've heard of low ethics but this is getting to be the extreme I understand the corporate politics been around a long time been with Cigna over 20 years I can say I've pretty much seen and heard it all but to require someone to commute 2 hours each day to and from a location or even greater distances is absurd, but as many have noted and posted in countless threads nobody cares it's all about the bottom line and the shareholders.

Nobody cares if you lose your home or your income nobody cares if you'll be gone the majority of the day just commuting back and forth nobody cares if you get inadvertently injured or ki-led commuting back and forth I doubt if that ever happened to anybody put in the position to do a long commute that their family would even get a sympathy card.

As much as I hate to say this, give it only a bit more time but people who live more than 50 miles away will be told that they must move closer to the office or they will be terminated. It is beyond disgusting.

Again, another tactic to get employees to leave voluntarily so they can avoid having to pay out more and severance packages.

In CT there are tons of empty hotel spaces, and some spaces belonging to people who were laid off. They are probably planning on doing a true up a month or two after the new policy is in effect to figure out who still needs a desk and who is WAH they can reassign to the office. If you are in a small office that is full, you’ll probably be deskless but it sounds like they want you to come in anyway.

Many offices don’t have enough space. If there is a Phase 3, it would probably only be for those buildings that have space, or have space freed up from layoffs and attrition.

I think we know ultimately where things are headed. For those outside of the 50 mile radius of an office will be told, move or send back your laptop.
