Thread regarding Red Lobster layoffs

RK and BK

ugh, where do i even start with red lobster these days? working here used to feel fairly good... now? it feels like we're all just bailing water on a sinking ship.

thai union just had to write down its stake because we're bleeding cash left and right. the causes are all over the place, blame it on covid, ridiculous interest rates, and costs skyrocketing on literally everything, wages, whatever you buy, you name it, we’re in rough waters. and management’s grand solution? pushing that $25 all-you-can-eat shrimp deal harder. yeah, that's a big help... it draws crowds, sure, but we’re losing money on it. makes zero sense.

and now there's talk about chapter 11 bankruptcy to get out of some of our leases and contracts. we're literally at the point where we're getting advice from a law firm about possibly going bankrupt. just great

plus, tibus. he’s supposed to be some kind of turnaround guru, but honestly can anyone really turn this ship around given all the sh-t that's happening? we’re all just bracing for what comes next and hoping for the best but we know it'll be a long shot. look around, talk to people, morale is low. working here used to be awesome, now it's just daily drama and uncertainty. i'ts messy

Hi there - I'm a reporter at Bloomberg, where I've been covering Red Lobster's long approach to bankruptcy and what's happened since. Can I give you a call to talk on background (no names or attribution) about your experience and opinions about the company in recent months/years? Shoot me an email at [eronaldshann] [at] [bloomberg.net]
