"On paper, Intel should be able to around on-par with TSMC given that all fab equipment basically comes from two vendors on the whole planet. So as TSMC has to build chips in higher cost GEOs such as US and EMEA, their cost structure will skyrocket, similar to Intel (which does not build in TW). What Intel needs to do is cut the fat in TMG to be as lean as TSMC... then they should be about on par."

Here is the problem, no other serious chip designed will use an Intel-owned fab until it is split apart. Why would Nvidia or AMD enrich their biggest competitor? Maybe it is time for an ARM like move where the fab business is a joint venture?

Apple CEO dumped Intel because he thought it can only produce chips for calculators from now on. Moore was dead no more good chips from Intel.

Too many PEs, Senior PEs, Fellows doing grade 8 work (especially in NEX in Austin, Texas under Sachin Katti)! Fire them including Sachin Katti his direct reports and downgrade all the PEs, Senior PEs, Fellows to grade 8-9!!!

I am a firm believer that Pat G was bad for vmware, and terrible for Intel, but it's unfair to poke fun for this.

It's his job to be the main cheerleader and pump the company WHILE making hard choices to bring Intel back.

It doesn't matter how silly it sounds, he's getting paid to do it.

It's not much different than all the people employed by Intel who are cranking out the inferior product: they are getting paid to do a job, and they are doing the best they can.

I'd believe it if INTC used its own fabs 100% and doesn't outsource 30% to TSMC.

Food analogy:
Burger Joint A: we have the best burgers in the world. But 30% of our own staff eat across the street at Burger Joint B.

I mean, I get it, if 30% of your own staff eat at a pizza place cuz of preference, but if they work and cook there and they go somewhere else for the same food, that's sus. What, you got a ro--h and rat droppings problem?
