Thread regarding CDW layoffs

DEI Townhall

Whose bright Idea was it to have the entire company on a 90-minute call after we’ve had 6 straight losing quarters?

Take a look at the reports for who was laid off. In the January 2024 layoff, there was ONE person under 40 laid off.

DEI is blatant evil racism and s-xism. The straight white male is now treated as the new minority.

Though I agree with your post about what a farce it is, the meetings aren’t mandatory. I actually don’t know a single person on my team who attends those meetings and also don’t recall a major “DEI goal” in performance reviews, though it may be a bullet in another category but my reviews are great (btw, the performance management system here is outdated and a joke, but that’s another conversation). If they truly want to make them mandatory, they just need to say it. And when you say your manager “won’t say anything” and imply that they’ll “get you” somehow for not attending, I think you’re being paranoid. I’m sure there are SOME managers who drank the Kool Aid and will punish you, but I think they’re in the minority. No matter to me - I’ll do what I must (ie, not waste billable time) and they can do what they must. I’ve worked for lots of companies in my long career and this one is mediocre at best.

Also agree about aging - until age discrimination is actually addressed (not only here, but everywhere), I’ll never take DEI seriously. The fact politicians in Washington are talking about raising the retirement age to address social security issues is a joke - it isn’t only a question of the ability to work, but these cr-p companies won’t hire you if you’re older!

Not mandatory? Overlook your DEI performance review goal? Don't kid yourself. Your manager is looking at attendance. Oh you won't see an immediate result, but it may come back to haunt you and you won't be told in any way. This whole thing is largely a farce at CDW. Sure, you can be"authentic" about your s-xuality, race, gender, pronoun preference, or anything personal that has nothing to do with your job. You know what you cannot discuss authentically? Work. No one is allowed to question the current "leadership" or their horrific decisions that have led to the destruction of culture, the loss of many jobs, and continuous declining financials. You also cannot "authentically" age at CDW. Either of those put you at the top of the layoff list. Why is that never discussed on these calls?

It's funny how easily an optional webinar got all of you so triggered.

You know it was optional, right? I didn't attend that meeting and never attend them and no one has ever said anything to me.

It is funny because the last thing CDW wants is for me to be myself.

They’re going to justify firing the higher paid older workers by using DEI policies to keep the cheaper ones employed. Sounds legit.

If you are aged 40+, be sure to bring up ageism and the fact that you don’t feel included since nearly all one people laid off have been aged 40+,

My authentic self finds that meeting a complete waste of time and resources.

Inclusion means I can complain about this ridiculous meeting if I want to. Roger that?

It is optional to attend. It is a Town Hall to help Coworkers feel like they belong and can be themselves at work. It is understandable that given the current economic conditions (and the layoffs that have occurred) that there is some pessimism, but there isn’t really something here to cr-p on. If you feel the call is not beneficial to you... don't attend it. No need to complain about something being hosted that other Coworkers do see value in and appreciate.

I wonder how much money in payroll and revenue generation is being wasted.

Coworkers are worried about getting laid off and not having an income to support their families, not worried about being their authentic selves
