Reps from Employee Consultation Forum in Ireland, employee representative body, quit a few weeks ago saying ECF not fit for purpose. Not enough ppl have put themselves forward for ECF so there are now no employee reps in Ireland. Ireland has legally required employee consultation period during layoffs, entire thing is a sh1tshow.

Does anyone know what specific teams are going? Also does anyone know how many were actually let go in Ireland in 2023?
Exactly right, not fit for purpose, as mgt are not acting in good faith, and yes, a thankless role. But…. More over, both former members are 20+ year veterans of SAP, from the late 90’s and are excellent speakers who “know how the world works”, with an experienced world view. Both of these guys stepping down and being plain and blunt about it is very telling. It was a Sysiphean task.
The Irish HR have also clearly been told to push "ECS is hiring and training people" as they mentioned it repeatedly.
I checked and ECS is only hiring for 25 roles GLOBALLY in the new teams. Great comfort to the 124 effected in Ireland, and 8000 globally. What a joke.
What is going to happen regarding this?
I noticed in the email from the outgoing ECF that they mention if the employees effected want to there could be a mechanism in place for SAP to hire a qualified company on our behalf to negotiate the consultation. But given we have no information provided on who is effected outside of our immediate team, I don't know how that would even be coordinated.
We were told that the team is not justifiable as a business case in Ireland and they want to outsource all of our projects and customers to partners. But in the same time we are told that the support side of business will need more people to accommodate this, so they will be requesting headcount for the support side to advertise for engineers/developers and we then have to apply for these new development roles on the support team and hope we get them (or leave). We work on an ABAP based system and some of us have for 6+ years, so now we are applying for roles in other languages competing with outside hires. It is an absolute sh-t show in Ireland and you can tell from the tone of all the ECF communication for the last year that SAP don't engage in good faith and make work impossible for them. I don't blame the outgoing ECF at all, and appreciate what they did in a thankless role... But I just wish they were still in place now that we really need them.
Anyway... I'm currently downloading latex editors to try and do a CV for the first time in 6 years. This is a nightmare.
