Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Anyone seen the union ?

See our unelected reps lauding it up on your union dues. Money well spent ? Its gone very quiet since the recognition announcement. Wheres all the actions they promised ? Starting to drag on now.

I think it's only fair to allow the union structures to be set up (elected reps who will need training and will be getting it imminently after the election) before giving off. Its a transitional period moving from a non unionised factory of 30 years to a unionised one. Let's be realistic. And to whoever said they got blocked off the Facebook page for disagreeing with someone on it, the only person blocked recently was someone who had an anonymous profile. The page has to be wary.

If you guys were foolish enough to vote for a union you deserve everything you will get.

I asked the same question on the FB page, and made a comment that i felt things were slow and no change yet, and that conditions have got worse for us operators. Guess what happened, i got blocked. So much for free speech. The admins on the FB page are a disgrace

❗️BREAKING NEWS❗️

What an historic day for the workers in Seagate, and in the city and region in general. After 30 long years, and a long hard campaign over the last 18 months, we now officially have Trade Union recognition for The Manufacturing Specialist group at Springtown !!!!

Pictured is our Regional Officer Brenda Stevenson
holding the Recognition & Facilities agreements this morning.

Signed, sealed, and delivered...as promised !!

We want to thank all our members for their support and patience throughout the campaign, and we want to thank all our leaders/organisers for their resilience and hard work over the course of the campaign, including all the staff at Unite, locally and Nationally who have given so much support around the clock.

Plenty of info all over social media so your union can keep you up to date. This site is for information regarding upcoming redundancies so stop slabbering on here about the union. Why don't you post on the Facebook page. No gonads ?

"You obviously don't keep yourself updated with your union if you did you would know they've been negotiating terms with your employer and have come to an agreement in principle...."

The union should be keeping you informed, you shouldn't have to seek out the information. That should be part of their job since you now have to pay dues to them. Otherwise, they are just another layer of management.

"See our unelected reps lauding it up on your union dues" Where have they been and there are no union reps yet ?

"Wheres all the actions they promised ?" You obviously don't keep yourself updated with your union if you did you would know they've been negotiating terms with your employer and have come to an agreement in principle....

Maybe you should involve yourself more in your union instead of posting cr-p on the layoff.

Unions are a scam to skim dues at your expense. You won’t see anything happen or get done. Oh, it’ll be claimed it’s being worked on so hard as the months and years go by. There is now going to be zero urgency on your behalf. The Union reps will live it up I’m sure. I told you so!
