Thread regarding CVS layoffs

How CVS treats long time employeesevfor 2024

I have over 40 yrs at CVS Corporate. I told my Supervisor I may retire this year
So at bonus time I received a good review.
What does CVS do. Give he half my bonus and no pay raise
I why not sc--w over the old guy

I give my notice immediately.

Well said! The "d-mb as a post" poster has a me vs. them attitude and that's a sad horrible way to live your working life. A few years ago my spouse was diagnosed with a disease and we would need to leave the area we were currently living in as it was not good for his condition. In the spring he told his boss he would be leaving the company in the summertime to move. His boss actually found him a job relocating to a different state within the company. We were deeply grateful and it helped immensely as it enabled him to keep his medical benefits and paycheck. I know it probably seems like the bad apples are multiplying among us but you can't stop helping & working for each other. We're in this together. It sounds like the workforce lost a good worker too soon because of a bad boss. I hope you have a great retirement!

To the poster below - life is not a "game". If that's how you choose to look at it good for you. Some of us were raised with integrity and honesty and for the first years of our working lives our employers reciprocated the same qualities. Just because companies have gone downhill doesn't mean we have to lose our integrity. This individual did the right thing, but unfortunately, his superior did not. That doesn't mean you stoop to their level and -as you put it-"play the game" dirty and deceitful the way they do.

40 years in the game and d-mb as a post. Never ever volunteer information and take a risk. Zero upside in that. Take care of yourself since the company never will.

If Im not mistaken, you are required to tell them 6 mo. prior to retirement so they can get a transition plan in place, hire a new person for you to train and get your retirement benefits in order. I was a manager and if I recall, it was either 3 or 6, but I lean toward 6 because it takes so long to post, interview and approve a new hire (3 mo.) and then time to train. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I would have done the same. But you can rest easy at night knowing you did the right thing. Your manager will not sleep as easy as they did the wrong thing.

You retiring probably had little to do with it to be honest. The company has gone down hill and is a complete dumpster fire. The only people getting paid well are executive leadership.

So sorry this happened to you. I've just been with the company over 10 years and was hoping to be here through full retirement, as I really like my job, but I will probably be laid off in the next round by the end of this month. Such a heartless company. Wishing you the best and hope you enjoy retirement time!

Sorry but you may have in a very small way contributed to this.

WHY did you tell him unless you were prepared to leave that very minute?

I am glad you shared this story so others can learn.
