The crowd selfie was one of the most tone deaf indulgences imaginable. Sure man, you're in a room full of people whose lives are being upended in one way or another, but make it ridiculously about you.
That selfie will be more photoshopped (to remove half asleep people and middle fingers) than Kate Middletons. Putin is more relatable, heartfelt, and engaging than he was.
