Thread regarding American Express Co. layoffs

Third Party Leakage - Damage Control, Chronic Data Leakages and Unwarranted Downloads?

See article: https://www.theregister.com/2024/03/04/american_express/

Don't worry, we gonna market our way out of this, we only leaked a couple thousand Amex credit card details in the USA, ignoring the 16 times we did beforehand in 2023.

This is what happens when everything tech gets outsourced to Asia and we constantly rely on third party price gougers to short sell us the end of a crooked stick. Really old systems and approval processes that don't get us anywhere.

We all know, there is an unspoken rule at Amex if you sc--w the marketing branding of this company you will be terminated.

You will be foolish to think that Amex has the talent, tech culture and will to invest in inhouse technology capabilities let alone improving security and deflecting false AML positives.

I have never seen someone from Google or Microsoft join this company. We force people to RTO and expect them to attend a 1AM morning call in the US at the same time on the white collar minimum wage. What a joke.

Everything is done through 3rd party providers especially with AI and blockchain. None of the people in Central understand how those technologies work with regards to credit lending because it's all dictated by marketing and branding. You try to push for funding to support a tech project well it's too bad if the marketing project manager doesn't understand what AI is (this was before Chat GPT came along).

I wonder how many leaks it will take for this company to finally invest in inhouse tech capacities rather than laying people off left right center. Maybe if it was the CEO's card details they would finally get up and spend some money on IT?
