latest rumblings, to use the DTL term, are major layoff in the works for April
numbers kicked around are 10 to 12% of the company
anyone else heard similar?

They just fired a bunch of people on March 29 saying it was for low performance, but all of the paperwork says reduction enforce. They got rid of cell phone stipends, and a bunch of tools for sales people. The ship is sinking quickly!
Someone said rifts started today. Are they laying people today who work Sat.?? I cannot believe this company.
RIFs just began. Again.
oooh! an "expression of interest" for "eligible US employees" !!
anyone know the numbers they want to hit and by when?
I have to tell you - I’ve seen zero operational impact from that last layoff. This company has become so bloated with vice presidents, directors, senior directors, managers, senior managers, analysts and other ancillary layers I don’t possibly conceive what they could be doing all day long.
Wouldnt surprise me, thats all they’ve been doing since 2018, I got out of there over a year ago, they made it not fun at all, very annoying, a job shouldnt be that annoying.
I'm happy people are posting here to give a heads up. All I see from Kate on LinkedIn is how many awards Lumen is winning for being such a great place to work, which ok that's nice, but if you're planning a massive layoff you might want to think about the optics on it.
although I suppose being honest and announcing "a great place to work as we slash another 10% of the company after we got rid of 4% of the employees just before the holidays and then we told you there weren't going to be any more layoffs" maybe doesn't have the same ring to it.
Trolls will be trolls 🙄 don't you have better things to do with yourself?
Haaa! I’m a lot brighter than any of you fools still at that place! Yes man! You keep believing in your fearless nimrods! You sir need to be much brighter! Considering that your stock is at 1.58 and you’re calling me not too bright! Go figure!
I think Lumen will be purchased in the next 5 years or completely out of business. It is being mismanaged and has high debt. It is prime for purchase. Selling off so many moving parts, letting go knowledgeable, valuable team members. Bite themselves in the a-s.
There is no cartoon or meme which can even begin to do justice to the reality that is going on at Lumn.
The fact is they have and will continue to destroy careers and make horrible management and strategic decisions (whether intentional or ignorant is up for discussion) at the expense of the employees and customers.
There have been very few years in the last 20+ where a RIF (or two) didn't happen. That is the trend and it continues.
What I see now is entire teams that do almost nothing and whether that is horrible management or preparation for layoffs is anyone' guess. They have created process on process which basically keeps you busy with process but doing nearly nothing.
And as usual, IBM comes in and gets the work while employees get the shaft.
Most likely an April RIF is real, the #'s thrown around probably depend on the financial results from the business.
Part of the reason I read this site is because I don’t believe what the leaders and executives say and we’re more likely to get accurate truth from a rumors site.
Which tells you something about Lumen management. It’s quite sad actually.
The reality is the market su-ks right now but i at least want to be prepared rather than drinking the kool aid and bring surprised.
With the tight budgets, they want the work done without having the money to pay.
"What exactly are you doing on this site? "
Like "most" people here, I'm an employee just seeing what the latest rumors are. Obviously you must be not too bright.
I left CenturyTel back in 2008. I still come to this site and see what is happening.
The only thing I see different is, there are more whiners than back then.
Get a life? What exactly are you doing on this site? Now that’s funny! Must be a Yes man! You must’ve failed the DEI courses at Lemon!
"I took the VSPP in 2020 and I never looked back!"
And you continue to come here? Get a life!
What an absolute fraud of a company! Big sho-ters huh? Please! Leaving that place was the best decision ever! My crystal ball was spot on to the future ahead! You’re either in the “click” or out of the “click”! Thank god I wasn’t in the click! I took the VSPP in 2020 and I never looked back! What an evil company!
I will take one for the team and gladly leave with a VSPP to save a younger persons job. Just waiting for an offer.
Well I guess Kate will be ok in her luxury home somewhere.. doesn’t need to worry about groceries or how the people that have real lives .. are coping ..they don’t give a cr-p about you guys when will the light bulb go off .. I could have stayed in 2020 but I left because of the basic inhumane abusive treatment they did to my friends and co workers .. and but yes the young millennials aka Norristown pa still have manager jobs .. go to hxxxc
For those asking about the source, there are a couple accounts on X that have mentioned Lumen layoffs and are quoting 2,800 in April. Backs up other posts that have been made here.
Have you made that call to Verizon yet?
Still considering the opportunity. I did receive a larger pay raise at Verizon than I had when I originally left. Lumen enticed me with a 25% increase when they recruited me. Additionally, remote work has become addictive and far more convenient than a 25-minute commute each way. However, this arrangement might not last long, given the current situation at Lumen.
apparently some managers are openly discussing it and that its going to be brutal
but I’m sure the executives will once again be on a all hands meeting and talk about the mistakes they’ve made in a sad attempt to make them seem sympathetic as they buy another $8m home and attend Seahawks games in the luxury box!
From my daily dealings it’s very possible this year work has been impossible to get anything done and the broken process we have here it’s starting to hurt business and lost deals and revenues as a result of it.
Hanging on hoping for Lumen to stage a turnaround is a very bad gamble, imho.
I see Lumen stock to soar in May!
Wow... sorry you boarded this sinking ship a year ago. If you only knew about this site or were able to reach out and talk to someone/anyone before you joined.
My advice to you..... and anyone else thinking about jumping on this floating tu-d..... RUN AWAY FAST. It's going no-where but down.
Lumen hasn't really done anything meaningful for the last decade except lay people off, ruin careers, have disappointing earnings reports and a shrinking stock price. Not to mention a shrinking head count... we had 50,000 employees a few years ago and now approaching 25,000. Many of those wised up and left on their own, many others were RIFFED. Some left when their business units were sold off.
Don't let Lumen DISRUPT your career. A job at Verizon beats a layoff from Lumen.
Maybe you won't get your Lumen salary at Verizon, but hopefully you make more than when you left and maybe even get your 15 years of service re-credited to you.
Have you made that call to Verizon yet?
After a year at Lumen, I transitioned from Verizon, where I spent 15 years. The move was primarily motivated by better pay. However, lately, I’ve been feeling anxious, and my former company is tempting me to return, albeit with a lower salary than Lumen. Unsure of what to do next.
What is your source? This doesn't sound far off, but interested in where you heard this.
I typed in lumen layoffs in a Google search. Ai says lumen will be laying off 500 to 1000 in April 😆
where are you hearing this from?
Haven’t heard that, except for an April HR RIF thread here.
Are they putting people into dead end situations … which would make them easier to layoff?
Absolutely.
Dang. Glad I'm on the cusp of turning in my two weeks. Working here has become like arranging deck chairs on the Titanic. I've over this cr-p.
